Monte Carlo Squash Classic
The Monte Carlo Classic is a yearly female professional squash (sport), squash tournament in Monte Carlo, Monaco. In its current version, it is part of the PSA World Tour. In recent times it has been held in November or December each year. The prize money is usually $25K, but there have been some exceptions over the years. Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo (; ; french: Monte-Carlo , or colloquially ''Monte-Carl'' ; lij, Munte Carlu ; ) is officially an administrative area of the Principality of Monaco, specifically the ward of Monte Carlo/Spélugues, where the Monte Carlo Casino is located. Informally, the name also refers to a larger district, the Monte Carlo Quarter (corresponding to the former municipality of Monte Carlo), which besides Monte Carlo/Spélugues also includes the wards of La Rousse/Saint Roman, Larvotto/Bas Moulins and Saint Michel. The permanent population of the ward of Monte Carlo is about 3,500, while that of the quarter is about 15,000. Monaco has four traditional quarters. Sarah Campion (born 10 May 1983 in Chester), also known by her former name Sarah Kippax, is former professional squash player who represented England Career Based in Halifax became the first English woman in almost ten years to win three successive women's world tour titles when she clinched the Malco Open in Sweden in March 2009. She enjoyed a whirlwind second half to the year 2010 after she was selected for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. In the singles she reached the third round as the 10th seed. She also reached the quarter finals of the doubles. Soon after, she was part of the English team that won the silver medal at the 2010 Women's World Team Squash Championships. Annie Au
Annie Au Wing Chi (; born February 9, 1989), known as Annie Au, is a former professional squash player who represented Hong Kong. Career Annie is a left-hander from Asia who has made a great impression as a junior. Not only winning British Junior Open titles but reaching the final of the Asian Junior and being a member of the Hong Kong team which won the world juniors is also on her record. She is a tribute to the Hong Kong Squash development schemes. She started playing squash at school aged thirteen through the promotional scheme. She was coached by national coach Faheem Khan. Au reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 6 in May 2012. In 2016, she was part of the Hong Kong team that won the bronze medal at the 2016 Women's World Team Squash Championships in France. Nicolette Fernandes
Nicolette Fernandes, (born June 19, 1983) is a professional squash player who represented Guyana. She won the only gold medal for Guyana at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia beating Samantha Terán in the final which lasts in 5 sets. In 2007, Fernandes suffered a knee injury which kept her out of action for 23 months. In February 2010, Fernandes was named Guyanese Sportswoman of the year for the year 2009 by the Guyanese National Sports Commission (NSC). Fernandes also appears in the WISPA 2010 calendar girl which features the top WISPA squash players in designer swimwear. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 19 in October 2013. On 28 August 2022, Fernandes became the first Guyanese to win a World Master's title when she secured a gold medal at the World Master's Championship in Poland. She is of Portuguese descent. Annelize Naudé
Annelize Naudé (born 1 January 1977) is a Dutch professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 13 in January 2006, and has won five WISPA tour titles as well as having been the runner-up nine times since 1996. Professional career Naudé's international squash career began in 1996; her world ranking after her first year was No. 53. She climbed up the rankings to No. 36 two years later, but her rankings then fell to a career low of No. 86 in May 2000. Her ranking rose again to No. 25 in late 2001, and she reached No. 20 a year later. She achieved her career best ranking of No. 13 four years later, in January 2006. Omneya Abdel Kawy ( ar, أمنية عبد القوي; born 15 August 1985, in Cairo) is a former professional squash player from Egypt. Career Omneya crowned a successful junior career in 2003 in her home city of Cairo when she became the first Egyptian woman to win a world junior title having won the 2003 World Junior Championship; she had previously been the runner up to Nicol David in 1999 and 2001. Such was already competing on the WISPA Tour during her mid teens. Laura Massaro
Laura Jane Massaro (née Lengthorn; born 2 November 1983) is a retired professional squash player from England. Career She was born in Great Yarmouth and attended Albany High School, Chorley, which is now called Albany Academy. In July 2007, she married Danny Massaro and became Laura Lengthorn-Massaro. She subsequently dropped 'Lengthorn' from her name and is now known professionally as Laura Massaro. She won her first top-level title at the German Open in 2004 and went on to become British Open champion in 2013 and World Champion in 2014, so become the first Englishwoman to hold both titles at once. She is also a three-time silver medallist for England in Commonwealth Games. Massaro was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Sky Sports Sportswomen of the Year awards.
