	Monsterland And Monster Island Monsterland and Monster Island are fictional locations in Toho Studios' ''Godzilla'' film franchise, both serving as nature reserves or homes for several giant monsters. Monsterland Monsterland was introduced in the 1968 film ''Destroy All Monsters''. The United Nations had decided to gather all the Earth's kaiju (giant monsters) and corral them into a single location, then keep them there. The Ogasawara Islands were chosen for the project and by 1999 ("at the close of the 20th century" according to the subtitles in the original Japanese version but on a newspaper it says 1994), Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, Minilla, Baragon, Manda, and Varan were all residents of Monsterland. 	Minilla is a kaiju who first appeared in Toho's 1967 film ''Son of Godzilla''. He is the adopted son of Godzilla, and is sometimes referenced as Minya in the American dubbed versions. Overview Introduced in ''Son of Godzilla'', Minilla was born on Sollgel Island, when his egg was prematurely cracked open by a group of mutant giant mantises called Kamacuras. Godzilla soon arrived, killed two of the Kamacuras, and rescued Minilla. Godzilla proceeded to train Minilla and defended it against further attacks from the final Kamacuras and the giant spider Kumonga. Godzilla and Minilla were placed in hibernation when a group of scientists completed a weather experiment, resulting in the freezing of their island. 	Zilla (Toho) , formerly known as Godzilla, is a kaiju, film monster originating from the 1998 film ''Godzilla (1998 film), Godzilla'', released by TriStar Pictures. It was initially created as a reimagining of Toho's Godzilla but was later re-branded as a separate character. Patrick Tatopoulos designed it after iguanas with a slim theropod appearance rather than the thick, bipedal designs of Toho's Godzilla.
