''Monster Manual V'' is an optional supplemental source book for the 3.5 edition of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' roleplaying game. Contents As with other ''Monster Manual'' supplements, ''MM5'' contains a variety of new creatures as well as expanded variants on staple '' D&D'' monsters. The ''MM5'' was released in July 2007, published in the same format as the ''Monster Manual IV'', featuring lairs and tactics and like III and IV how these new monsters fit into Eberron and Forgotten Realms. According to previews of the Night Below ''Dungeons & Dragons'' miniatures set, some of the new monsters that feature in it include the Greenspawn Zealot, the Arcadian Avenger, the Verdant Reaver, and the Carnage Demon. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal role-playing game system, system of rules and guidelines. There are several forms of role-playing games. Wayne England (d. 9 February 2016) was an English artist whose work regularly appeared in role-playing games, wargaming rulebooks and magazines and was used on cards for collectible card games such as ''Magic: The Gathering''. Carl Critchlow is a British fantasy and science fiction comic illustrator. He is best known for his character Thrud the Barbarian, which originally appeared in ''White Dwarf'' magazine, and for his work for the ''Lobster Random'' comics. Career Critchlow's comic book career began in the early 1980s, when he contributed to fanzines and informal publications. Miguel Coimbra (born 9 December 1977) is a French freelance illustrator and graphic artist. Career Coimbra started drawing in his childhood. His special interest in games and the fantasy theme was aroused through the trading card game ''Magic: The Gathering''. David Allsop
Dave Allsop is a Scottish game designer and artist for role-playing games and video games. Career Dave Allsop developed the role-playing game ''SLA Industries'' (1993); the Scottish company Nightfall Games was founded solely to publish the game. Wizards of the Coast later bought ''SLA Industries'', but then returned it to Nightfall, who licensed it to Hogshead Publishing; in 2002, Hogshead closed down and thus ''SLA Industries'' returned to Allsop. Allsop was by then the flatmate of Angus Abranson, and they decided to form a new role-playing company in 2003 called Cubicle 7 Entertainment.
