Monique Charbonneau
Monique Charbonneau (1928–2014) was a Canadian artist, known for her etchings, lithographs, lyrical wood engravings and gouache paintings. She designed the Canada Post stamp to commemorate the life and work of Quebec poet Emile Nelligan (1879-1941) with the illustration of his poem ''Le vaisseau d'or'' (The Golden Ship).A Dictionary of Canadian Artists, volumes 1-8 by Colin S. Maria Tippett
Maria W. Tippett (born 9 December 1944) is a Canadian historian specialising in Canadian art history. Her 1979 biography of Emily Carr won the Governor General's Award for English-language non-fiction. Educated at Simon Fraser University and the University of London, Tippett has gone on to win several awards and has written extensive biographies of Emily Carr, Frederick Varley, Bill Reid, and Yousuf Karsh. Tippett has also written, among others, books on the photography of Charles Gimpel, the parents of David Ho, Canadian war art from World War I, as well as landscape paintings of British Columbia. In addition to her writing, Tippett has held positions and fellowships at several universities, including Simon Fraser University, York University, Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and Cambridge University. Alfred Pellan
Alfred Pellan (born Alfred Pelland; 16 May 1906 – 31 October 1988) was an important figure in twentieth-century Canadian painting. Biography Alfred Pelland was born in Quebec City on 16 May 1906. His mother, Régina Damphousse, died when he was young, and his father, Alfred Pelland, a locomotive engineer, raised their three children. In school, Pellan filled the margins of his notebooks with drawings and excelled at his art classes, with little interest in other subjects. He later changed his surname to "Pellan". In 1920, Pellan enrolled at the School of Fine Arts of Quebec. He won first prizes in advanced courses and earned medals in painting, drawing, sculpture, sketching, anatomy and advertising. He sold his first painting at the age of 17 to the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. Albert Dumouchel
Albert Dumouchel (April 15, 1916 – January 11, 1971) was a Canadian printmaker, painter and teacher. A multi-talented individual, Dumouchel also was a photographer and gifted musician. The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MACM) is a contemporary art museum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
