Mongam
Mongam is a town in Morayur Gram panchayat in Malappuram (Lok Sabha constituency) in Malappuram district of state of Kerala. Mongam AIWA College is the first women's Arabic college in south India. The name ''Mongam'' is derived from the local banana plant business of the village in the past. The town was well known for banana plantation in this period. In the 1980s Mongam was famous for Mahindra Jeep business and the town is still known for jeep business. Location Mongam is on the National Highway 966 between Malappuram and Kozhikode cities. Morayur
Morayur or Morayoor is a tiny town near Malappuram Located on Palakkad-Kozhikoad Highway (NH 966). It is one of the villages (Gram panchayat also) in Malappuram district of state of Kerala. Etymology Morayur, in Malayalam, means 'Land of peoples who has manners i.e. mora=manners + yuru=land of'. But it just an opinion with no authentic proof. National Highway 966 (India)
National Highway 966 (NH 966) is a highway which connects Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode district headquarters in Kerala. It was previously known as NH 213. It covers a distance of 125 km. At Ramanattukara, near Kozhikode, it joins NH 66. At Palakkad it joins NH 544, which connects Coimbatore and Cochin through Palakkad. A new Greenfield highway is approved under Bharatmala project to replace existing NH 966. This highway will connect NH 66 in Pantheerankavu near Kozhikode to NH 544 in Puthussery near Palakkad.
