Mondial Des Cultures De Drummondville
The Mondial Des Cultures (formerly called the Festival Mondial de Folklore (''World Folklore Festival'') was a folk dance festival which was held every summer in early July at the Woodyatt Park, in Drummondville, a city located in the Centre-du-Québec region. The event was founded in 1982, after members of the folk ensemble Mackinaw had attended a similar festival in Dijon, France. The last festival was held in summer 2017 festival, after which it ceased to exist. During the eleven days of celebration, dozens of renowned artists and folk ensembles from around the world participated in this event which attracted in its last years an average of over 300,000 visits per year. The annual budget was 2.2 million Canadian dollars and the economic benefits were estimated at 16.7 million Canadian dollars, according to a study conducted by the survey firm CROP in 2007. Grégory Charles
Gregory Charles, OC (born February 12, 1968) is a Quebec performing artist of Trinidadian and French Canadian origin. Biography Charles' father Lennox was a black anglophone of Trinidadian origin; his mother was a white francophone Canadian. Charles was born in Montreal, Quebec, was raised in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham and studied at École de musique Wilfrid-Pelletier in Montreal. At the age of 7, he won a category of the Canadian Music Competition, after which he performed with most of the country's symphonic orchestras. In 1979, he represented Canada at an international piano contest in Paris and at Carnegie Hall in New York. La Compagnie Créole
La Compagnie Créole is a popular French pop band from French Guiana and the French West Indies, founded in the 1970's. They originally started singing in Creole but quickly adopted French as their main language. They are known mostly for the feel-good and happy-go-lucky quality reverberating in all of their songs: popular themes and imagery include colorful rainbows, sunshine, music and harmless animals as a positive morale booster all set to Caribbean rhythms. Ralph Zachary Richard (born September 8, 1950) is an American singer-songwriter and poet. His music is a combination of Cajun and Zydeco musical styles. Biography Zachary Richard began his musical career at the age of 8, as soprano in the Bishop's Boys Choir at Saint John's Cathedral in Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Cathedral High School and Tulane University, graduating summa cum laude in 1972. Richard has recorded Cajun and zydeco music for over 45 years. Cornelius Nyungura (born 24 March 1977), known by his stage name Corneille, is a Canadian R&B singer and songwriter. He was born in West Germany to Rwanda He, spent most of his childhood in Rwanda, and eventually emigrated to Quebec, Canada, in 1997. He sings in French and English. His work is greatly influenced by American funk and soul music; he is inspired by Prince, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Early life Corneille was born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, although he spent much of his childhood in Rwanda. Drummondville is a city in the Centre-du-Québec region of Quebec, located east of Montreal on the Saint-François River. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 79,258.
