Monastyryska ( uk, Монастириська; pl, Monasterzyska, yi, מאָנעסטרישטש, Monastrishtch) is a town in Chortkiv Raion, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. In 2001, the population was 6,344. The town is situated on the river Koropets, from Buchach, south-east from Lviv, on the road between Ternopil or Berezhany and Ivano-Frankivsk. The river Koropets forms a wide lake. Monasteryska borders Hryhoriv and Bertnyky on the east, Ozekhiv on the south, Vycholky and Stara Huta on the west, Nova Huta, Shveykiv and Kovalivka on the north. It hosts the administration of Monastyryska urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Its older name was Monastyryshche (Монастирище), which gave rise to the Yiddish name Monastrishtsh. Monastyryska Raion
Monastyryska Raion ( uk, Монастириський район) was a raion in Ternopil Oblast in western Ukraine. Its administrative center was the city of Monastyryska. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Ternopil Oblast to three. The area of Monastyryska Raion was merged into Chortkiv Raion. Koropets ( uk, Коропець; pl, Koropiec) is an urban-type settlement in Chortkiv Raion (district) of Ternopil Oblast (province) in western Ukraine. Koropets was first founded in 1421, and it acquired the status of an urban-type settlement in 1984. Koropets hosts the administration of Koropets settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. A nova (plural novae or novas) is a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently "new" star (hence the name "nova", which is Latin for "new") that slowly fades over weeks or months.
