Macromantics
Romy Hoffman (born 1980) is an Australian songwriter and musician who has performed under the names Macromantics, Romy and Agender. Initially based in Sydney, since 2014 she has worked in Los Angeles. Life and career Romy Hoffman was raised in a Jewish household. In 1995 as a 15-year-old she started playing guitar with her high school classmate Ben Lee's pop, punk band Noise Addict. With the group, she toured the United States where she encountered the New York-based hip hop culture. She told Tim Colman of ''The Sydney Morning Herald'', "I just did the last tour with them, which was great because I got to go to America." While a member of Noise Addict she was recorded for the track, "Spritz", which is the B-side of their single, "The Frail Girl" (1995). She later returned to the US, to spend time writing, in San Francisco. As a result, she released her debut solo seven-track extended play, ''Hyperbolic Logic'', in 2004. Paul William "Sage" Francis (born November 18, 1976) is an American independent underground rapper from Providence, Rhode Island. He is the founder and CEO of Strange Famous Records. Early life and education Francis was born in Miami, Florida, but grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. He is an only child and grew up for most of his childhood with his mother and step father after his parents divorced when he was young. He lived in different parts of Rhode Island including North Smithfield and Woonsocket, Rhode Island. His mom worked as a bartender and his stepfather worked as a locksmith. Francis began writing and recording original lyrics at age 8, being inspired by acts such as Run DMC and Public Enemy. Ground Components were an Australian soul, punk rock band. Formed December 2002 by Indra Adams on bass guitar, Joe McGuigan on lead vocals and guitar, Simon McGuigan on drums and Dallas Paxton on keyboards. Their debut album, ''An Eye for a Brow, a Tooth for a Pick'' (September 2006), reached the ARIA Albums Chart. They disbanded in 2007. Kill Rock Stars is an independent record label founded in 1991 by Slim Moon and Tinuviel Sampson, and based in both Olympia, Washington, and Portland, Oregon. The label has released a variety of work in different genres, but was originally known for its commitment to underground punk rock bands and the Olympia area music scene.
