''Molly'' is a 1983 Australian family film about a singing dog which marked the acting debut of Claudia Karvan. Plot When weary Old Dan collapses at Sydney Central Railway Station, he entrusts his beloved dog Molly to young Maxie. Maxie takes up the challenge, developing a soft spot for her special new companion - a dog with the rare ability to sing in tune. Claudia Karvan
Claudia Karvan (born 19 May 1972) is an Australian actress, producer and scriptwriter. As a child actor, she first appeared in the film, '' Molly'' (1983) and followed with an adolescent role in ''High Tide'' (1987). She portrayed a teacher in '' The Heartbreak Kid'' (1993) – the film was spun off into a TV series, ''Heartbreak High'' (1994–1999), with her character taken over by Sarah Lambert. Karvan's roles in television series include ''The Secret Life of Us'' (2001–2005), ''Love My Way'' (2004–2007), '' Newton's Law'' (2017) and '' Halifax: Retribution'' (2020). Garry McDonald
Garry George McDonald AO (born 30 October 1948) is an Australian actor, satirist and comedian. In a career spanning five decades he has had many theatre, television and film roles, and has been listed as a National Living Treasure. He is best known as the seemingly naive celebrity interviewer Norman Gunston, through whom he pioneered the "ambush interviewer" technique since followed by many others. He received a Gold Logie award for the television ''Norman Gunston Show'' in which he developed the character. He is also famed for his role of the hapless Arthur Beare in the television sitcom ''Mother and Son''. Appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2003 for service to the community in the mental health field and to the arts as an entertainer, he has also been a board member of the Australian mental health organisation Beyond Blue. Reg Lye
Reginald Thomas Lye (14 October 1912 – 23 March 1988), was an Australian actor who worked extensively in Australia and England. He was one of the busiest Australian actors of the 1950s, appearing in the majority of locally shot features at the time, as well as on stage and radio. Lee Robinson called him "one of the best character actors in Australia." He moved to England in the early 1960s, (also starring in television, such as ''Mrs Thursday'' and ''The Wednesday Play''), but returned to Australia when the film industry revived in the 1970s.
