Mokabbir Khan ( bn, মোকাব্বির খান) is a Bangladeshi politician who has served as Member of Parliament for Sylhet-2 since January 2019. He is a member of Gano Forum. Biography Khan was born in Balaganj, Sylhet District into a Bengali Muslim family. His parents are Muhammad Firuz Khan and Muhibunnisa Khanom. Sylhet-2 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2019 by Mokabbir Khan of the Gano Forum. Yahya Chowdhury
Yahya Chowdhury (born 17 February 1964) is a Bangladeshi politician, a member of the Jatiya Sangsad and the current Joint Secretary of the central committee of the Jatiya Party. Early life and education Yahya was born on 17 February 1974 at Sylhet city. He is the eldest son of his parents Abdul Hye Chowdhury and Dilara Begum. He had his primary secondary and college education in local school and college in Sylhet city. He had completed his SSC (Secondary School Certificate) from Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School and HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) from Sylhet Government College. Balaganj
Balaganj ( bn, বালাগঞ্জ) is an upazila of Sylhet District in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. Etymology The name Balaganj is derived from the Bengali word ''bala'' meaning 'strength' and the Persian/Bengali word ''ganj'' that means 'marketplace' or 'neighbourhood'. Its older name was Kushiyarakul named after the abundance of sugar-cane (''kushiyar'' in Sylheti) in the area. The town also lies on the banks of the Kushiyara River, which also takes its name from sugarcane. An ashram was opened in its central bazaar known as the Madan Mohan Jiu Ashram, which renamed the area to Madanganj. The female worshippers at the temple were known for wearing many bangles on both of their hands. The popularity of bangles in the area increased so much that the town eventually became known as Balaganj Bazaar. Sylhet Division
Sylhet Division ( bn, সিলেট বিভাগ) is the northeastern division of Bangladesh. It is bordered by the Indian states of Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura to the north, east and south respectively, and by the Bangladeshi divisions of Chittagong to the southwest and Dhaka and Mymensingh to the west. Prior to 1947, it included the subdivision of Karimganj (presently in Barak Valley, India). However, Karimganj (including the thanas of Badarpur, Patharkandi and Ratabari) was inexplicably severed from Sylhet by the Radcliffe Boundary Commission. Sylhet ( bn, সিলেট), located in north-east Bangladesh, is the divisional capital and one of the four districts in the Sylhet Division. History Sylhet district was established on 3 January 1782, and until 1878 it was part of Bengal Province under Dhaka Division.
