Mohammed Bakar
Dato' Mohammed Bakar (or Mohamad Bakar) (25 June 1945 – 8 November 2020) was a Malaysian footballer. He was also the flag bearer for Malaysia at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Career A teacher by profession (as Malaysia football is not professional in his time), Mohamed represented Penang FA during his football career. Mohamed competed for the Malaysia national team in the men's tournament at the 1972 Summer Olympics and came as substitute to replaced Shaharuddin Abdullah in the 3-0 won against United States. He was also in the coaching staff when Malaysia qualified again for the 1980 Olympics, though the Olympics were later boycotted by Malaysia. He was earlier the team head coach when Malaysia won the 1979 Southeast Asian Games gold medal, but the Football Association of Malaysia recorded Karl-Heinz Weigang, who was then the national team advisor, as the winning head coach. Bagan Ajam
Bagan Ajam is a small town along the longest trunk road in Penang, Malaysia near Butterworth, the opposite city to George Town. It is best known for its morning market, where most residents will be, especially on weekends. Pantai Bagan Ajam is a beach here that is popular among the locals. Bagan Ajam and the whole of Butterworth have gone through changes with construction of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road. The road was completed in 2006. A Bagan Ajam rest and service area is located on the highway. This outer ring road was built very near to the sea only. Travelers can enjoy a seaview here and some cargo ships sightseeing. 1979 Southeast Asian Games
The 1979 Southeast Asian Games ( id, Pesta Olahraga Asia Tenggara 1979), officially known as the 10th Southeast Asian Games, was a subcontinental multi-sport event held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 21 to 30 September 1979. This was the first time that Indonesia hosted the games. Indonesia is the fifth nation to host the Southeast Asian Games after Thailand, Burma, Malaysia and Singapore. The games was officially opened and closed by President Soeharto at the Senayan Sports Stadium. The final medal tally was led by host Indonesia, followed by Thailand and Burma. Piala Emas Raja–Raja ( en, Kings Gold Cup or Sultans Gold Cup) is an amateur annual football competition held between the states in Malaysia. Burnley Cup
Burnley Cup or Piala Razak is a defunct youth football competition for under-19 players in Malaysia. History On 25 January 1961, Mr.Choo Seng Quee, Malaya national football team coach departed to England to study football training techniques. That trip was made under a personal arrangement by FAM president Tunku Abdul Rahman with a British Council bursary. When Mr. Choo Seng Que arrived in England, he was sent by the English Football Association as guests to Burnley F.C and Sheffield F.C. After a six-month coaching course in England, on 14 June 1961 when he was about to return to Malaya, he was awarded two trophies to be given to the FAM to hold local football tournaments for youths; the Burnley Cup for under-19 and the Sheffield Cup for under-15. Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
