Mohammed Jamil Abdelqader Ashar ( ar, محمد جميل عبد القادر عشا; ) is a Saudi-born Jordanian doctor resident in the United Kingdom, who was a suspect arrested after the 2007 Glasgow Airport attack. He was charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause explosions, but on 16 December 2008 was found not guilty and acquitted on all charges. Early life and medical career A Jordanian who was born in Saudi Arabia to a family originating from Palestine, Asha moved to Jordan with his family in 1991. He attended Jubilee School in Amman, a school for gifted children, where he is remembered as a dedicated student who was bookish and introverted. On 29–30 June 2007, two related terrorist incidents occurred in the United Kingdom. In the second incident, one of the two perpetrators was killed, while five civilians were injured, none of them seriously. On 29 June, two car bombs were discovered in London and disabled before they could be detonated. The first device was left near a Haymarket nightclub, and the second was left in a nearby area. On the following day, 30 June, a terrorist ramming attack occurred at Glasgow Airport when a dark green Jeep Cherokee loaded with propane canisters was driven at the glass doors of the main terminal and set ablaze. Following the airport attack, two suspects were taken into custody and identified as Bilal Abdullah and Kafeel Ahmed. Lotfi Raissi ( ar, لطفي رئيسي, ''Luṭfī Rayissī''; born April 4, 1974), was the first person charged in connection with the September 11, 2001, attacks. However, in 2003 a British court ruled that the charges against Raissi were without evidence, and that he had no association with the attacks. The Special Immigration Appeals Commission (also known by the acronym SIAC) is a superior court of record in the United Kingdom established by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997 that deals with appeals from persons deported by the Home Secretary under various statutory powers, and usually related to matters of national security. SIAC also hears persons deprived of British citizenship under the British Nationality Act 1981 as amended by Section 4 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002. An appellant is represented to the commission by a special advocate who is a person vetted by the Security Service with controversy surrounding the use of secret evidence which only the judges and special advocates have access to. His Majesty's Prison Belmarsh is a Category-A men's prison in Thamesmead, south-east London, England. The prison is used in high-profile cases, particularly those concerning national security.
