Mohammad Khordadian
Mohammad Khordadian ( fa, محمد خردادیان ''Mohammad Khordādiyān''; born 22 February 1957) is an Iranian-American choreographer, dancer and entertainer. His dance instruction tapes of Persian and Arabic dance have become popular inside Iranian society. In 2006, during a TV interview he came out and became one of the few Iranian celebrities who declared to be homosexual. He resides in Los Angeles, California. Biography The youngest of four children, Mohammad Khordadian was born in Sabzevar. Inspired by Jamileh, a famous Iranian female dancer of the 60s and 70s, he started dancing when he was a child. Then he joined the ''National Folk Company of Iran'', a local troupe, and performed in Roodaki Opera House where he met his future wife, Jean Beaini. Before leaving Iran he was a taxi driver in Tehran, after the Islamic Revolution he fled his country to build a new life as a dance teacher and performer in Los Angeles. Sabzevar
Sabzevar ( fa, سبزوار ), previously known as Beyhagh (also spelled "Beihagh"; fa, بيهق), is a city and capital of Sabzevar County, in Razavi Khorasan Province, approximately west of the provincial capital Mashhad, in northeastern Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 208,172, in 57,024 families. Sabzevar is the commercial center for an agricultural region producing grapes and raisins. There is some small-scale industry, for food processing, copperware, and electric motors. Through the old bazaar of Sabzevar fresh, dried, and preserved fruits and vegetables are exported. Radio Zamaneh ( fa, رادیو زمانه) is an Amsterdam-based Persian language exile news platform and former radio broadcaster. "Zamaneh" is the Persian literary term for "time". Radio Zamaneh is an independent Persian-language exile media and former radio broadcaster that was founded in 2005, after the parliament of The Netherlands passed a resolution calling for support to free Iranian media. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Iran face severe legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Sexual activity between members of the same sex is illegal and can be punishable by up to death, and people can legally change their assigned sex only through a sex reassignment surgery. LGBT rights in Iran have come in conflict with the penal code since the 1930s. In post-revolutionary Iran, any type of sexual activity outside a heterosexual marriage is forbidden. Same-sex sexual activities are punishable by imprisonment, corporal punishment, fines, or execution. Gay men have faced stricter enforcement actions under the law than lesbians.
