Mohamed Irufaan (born 24 July 1994) is a Maldivian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Maziya. Club career Irufaan joined Valencia in 2012 and played at youth level before breaking through into the first team, in the year 2013. The island of Thimarafushi ( Dhivehi: ތިމަރަފުށި), (pronounced "thi-ma-ra-fu-shi") is one of the inhabited islands of the Maldives. Geography The island is south of the country's capital, Malé. The island is geographically located in the Thaa Atoll, which is also known as the Kolhumadulu Atoll. Demography The island has a recorded population of 4253 people as of July 2013. Women The number of women in the island is comparatively small compared to the population of males. The number of females under 18 years of age was 422. While the age group of 18-65 comprised 611 women, the elderly females numbered 46. Therefore, the total population of females in the island is 1934. Maziya Sports and Recreation Club is a Maldivian professional football club based in Malé. They compete in the Dhivehi Premier League, the country's top division. The club was formed in 1996 and was promoted to the first division for the first time in 2006. History The club was founded on 23 January 1996. 2018 SAFF Championship
The 2018 SAFF Championship, also known as 2018 SAFF Suzuki Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 12th edition of the SAFF Championship, the biennial international men's association football, football championship of South Asia organized by South Asian Football Federation, SAFF. It was initially scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh in December 2017, but later rescheduled to 4–15 September 2018. Host selection On 2 January 2016, SAFF executive committee made a decision that Bangladesh would host the 2017 SAFF Championship at a meeting held in Trivandrum, India. Maldives and Bhutan made bids to host the games but the latter withdrew its bid. 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification – AFC Second Round
The second round of AFC matches for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (and 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification) was played from 24 May 2015 to 29 March 2016. Format A total of forty teams (teams ranked 1–34 in the AFC entrant list and six first round winners) were divided into eight groups of five teams to play home-and-away round-robin matches.
