Mohamed Aslam (born 30 September 1970; dv, މުޙައްމަދު އަސްލަމް) is a Maldivian politician and the 20th speaker of the People's Majlis since 13 November 2023 to 28 May 2024 has served as a member of parliament since 2005. He is a member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Aslam was born in 30 September 1970. Aslam was the running mate of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the 2023 Maldivian presidential election. Mohamed Nasheed GCSK (; born 17 May 1967) is a Maldivian politician and activist currently serving as the 19th speaker of the People's Majlis since May 2019. A founding member of the Maldivian Democratic Party, he served as President of the Maldives from 2008 until his resignation in 2012. He is the first democratically elected president of the Maldives and the only president to resign from office. Born in Malé, Nasheed was educated overseas before returning to the Maldives and becoming involved in political activism. Presidential elections were held in the Maldives on Saturday, 9 September 2023, with a second round held on 30 September. Incumbent president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was seeking re-election, after defeating the-then Speaker of the People's Majlis Mohamed Nasheed in the Maldivian Democratic Party primaries.
