Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir
Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir is a professional vocal ensemble founded in 2005 in Copenhagen. The choir consists of 16 classically trained singers from all over Scandinavia, and was founded in 2005 in conjunction with the conductor, Mogens Dahl's, establishment of Mogens Dahl Concert Hall at Islands Brygge in Copenhagen. Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir has its artistic focus on Nordic and romantic music. The choir has also often new music in the repertoire, dedicated to the choir from Scandinavian composers. The ensemble has toured both at home and abroad in cooperation with festivals, soloists and ensembles within many genres and contexts. Among these partners are soprano Anna Netrebko, electronica composer Mike Sheridan, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Baroque Ensemble Camarata Oresund. Mogens Dahl
Mogens Dahl (born 1953) is a Danish conductor, founder and owner of Mogens Dahl Concert Hall and conductor of Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir, married to the Danish business woman Jette Egelund. Background Mogens Dahl was born in Thisted in 1953, in a family with seven children. Mogens Dahl graduated cand.phil. from Aarhus University in 1980, and as a conductor from The Royal Academy in 1983. He has taught at the conservatory in Aarhus and the Aalborg University. From 1991 he was choirmaster on The Royal Opera in Aarhus. Mogens Dahl Concert Hall is a chamber music venue in the Islands Brygge district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was opened at the private initiative of Mogens Dahl in 2005. Building The concert hall is located in the former Hertz Book Publishing House from 1901. The complex also houses the design company VIPP. Islands Brygge (English: Iceland's Quay) is a harbourfront area in central Copenhagen, Denmark, located on the north-western coast of Amager. The neighbourhood is noted for its waterfront park Havneparken, which is one of the most popular areas along the Copenhagen harbourfront and the location of one of the Copenhagen Harbour Baths. Anna Netrebko
Anna Yuryevna Netrebko (russian: Анна Юрьевна Нетребко; born 18 September 1971) is an Austrian operatic soprano with an active international career and performed prominently at the Salzburg Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, and The Royal Opera. Discovered and promoted by Valery Gergiev, she began her career at the Mariinsky Theatre, collaborating with the conductor in the theater and performances elsewhere. She was noticed globally after playing Donna Anna in Mozart's ''Don Giovanni'' at the 2002 Salzburg Festival. Holmen Church
The Holmen Church ( da, Holmens Kirke) is a Parish church in central Copenhagen in Denmark, on the street called Holmens Kanal. First built as an anchor forge in 1563, it was converted into a naval church by Christian IV. It is famous for having hosted the wedding between Margrethe II of Denmark, current queen of Denmark, and Prince Henrik in 1967. It is the burial site of such notabilities as naval heroes Niels Juel and Peter Tordenskjold, and composer Niels Wilhelm Gade, and contains artwork by, among others, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Karel van Mander. The church building The appearance of the Holmen Church today closely resembles that of the renovation in 1872, except for the colour. The windows are in clear glass and predominantly set in iron. DR P2
DR P2 – in Denmark normally referred to as simply P2 – is a Danish radio station operated by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. It specializes in classical music, both recorded and in live performance, as well as reporting on and providing discussion of the classical music scene. Since 1991 P2 has organized a chamber music competition for promising young musicians, held every 2 years. History On 1 October 1951 the then ''Statsradiofonien'' launched their second radio station, called ''Program 2''. In 1959 Statsradiofonien changed its name to Danmarks Radio, and to DR in 1996. In 1960 Danmarks Radio started regional programming on P2 in the evenings. The station switched to nationwide stereo output on 1 October 1969 after some regional trials. Classical music was first broadcast on the station in 1980 during the evenings when the regional programming took over the daytime schedule.
