Moderate Party (New Jersey)
The Moderate Party is a minor third party in New Jersey founded by centrist former members of the Republican Party, on the grounds that the party has shifted too far right following the election of Donald Trump in 2016 and the storming of the Capitol on January 6. The party also seeks to attract moderate Democrats who are unsatisfied with the party's shift to the left. Foundation The party was founded in the summer of 2022 in preparation for the election of that year. The party was co-founded by Rick Wolfe, former Republican mayor of East Amwell Township and Michelle Garay, former Republican mayor of Alexandria Township with Wolfe going on to be the party's spokesman and Garay the chairwoman. Alexandria Township, New Jersey
Alexandria Township is a township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 4,938, reflecting an increase of 240 (+5.1%) from the 4,698 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,104 (+30.7%) from the 3,594 counted in the 1990 Census. Alexandria was formed by Royal charter on March 5, 1765, from portions of Bethlehem Township, and was incorporated as one of New Jersey's initial 104 townships by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798. Factions In The Democratic Party (United States)
The Democratic Party of the United States is a big tent party composed of various factions. The liberal faction supports social liberalism that began with the New Deal in the 1930s and the Great Society in the 1960s. The moderate faction supports Third Way politics that includes center-left social policies and center-right fiscal policies. The progressive faction supports social democracy and left-wing populism in addition to social liberalism. The conservative faction supports right-wing policies, though it lost much of its influence by the 1990s. Democrats in Congress organize into caucuses based on political ideology.
