Mob Style
Mob Style (or Mobstyle) was an American hip hop group from Harlem, New York, consisting of rappers A.Z. (not to be confused with later Brooklyn rapper AZ), Pretty Tone Capone, Gangster Lou and Whip Wop. The group were among the first hip hop artists to release full-length albums independently with 1990's ''The Good, the Bad, the Ugly'' and 1992's ''Game of Death'', at a time when major labels were the most popular way to release music. Harlem is a neighborhood in Upper Manhattan, New York City. East Coast Hip Hop
East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in New York City during the 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in the Bronx, New York City. In contrast to other styles, East Coast hip hop music has prioritized complex lyrics for attentive listening rather than beats for dancing. The term "East Coast hip hop" more specifically denotes hip hop originating from the East Coast of the Northeastern United States; Southeastern states such as Georgia instead fall under the umbrella of Southern hip hop rather than "East Coast hip hop". Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Azie Faison
Azie Faison Jr. (born November 11, 1964), sometimes known by the nickname "AZ", is an American former drug dealer and businessman who attained notoriety during the War on Drugs era as an individual drug dealer in New York. His five-year reign as crime boss ended when he was 26. Faison was born in New York City, and turned to selling drugs, advising youth in impoverished neighborhoods to avoid the lures of drug trafficking. He formed the hip-hop group MobStyle, where he released an album as a member in the 1990s, as well as a solo release. Anthony Cruz (born March 9, 1972), better known by his stage name AZ, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He is known for being a longtime and frequent music partner of East Coast rapper Nas and also a member of hip hop group The Firm alongside Nas, Foxy Brown, Cormega and Nature. Online magazine About.com listed AZ as the "Most Underrated apperof All Time". AZ also made it onto the sites' "Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007)", where he was reiterated as "arguably the most underrated lyricist ever."
