Mitcham Tram Stop
Mitcham tram stop is a Tramlink stop in Mitcham in the London Borough of Merton. The stop is located between Belgrave Walk and Mitcham Junction. It is located just east of the former Mitcham railway station, which closed in 1997. The tram stop consists of twin platforms accessible by ramps at either end. Infrastructure Due to limited track space in the cutting northwest of the station towards Belgrave Walk tram stop, the tracks are interlaced for a short distance with one rail of the southeast bound track between the two rails of the northwest bound track. East of the station there used to be single track to Mitcham Junction Station. Double line track In late June 2012 a double line track was opened from Mitcham to Mitcham Junction, save for a short stretch of single track immediately to the west of Mitcham Junction due to the limited clearance under the road bridge. Tramlink
London Trams, previously Tramlink and Croydon Tramlink, is a light rail tram system serving Croydon and surrounding areas in South London, England. It began operation in 2000, the first tram system in the London region since 1952. It is managed by London Trams, a public body part of Transport for London (TfL), and has been operated by FirstGroup since 2017. Mitcham is an area within the London Borough of Merton in South London, England. It is centred southwest of Charing Cross. Originally a village in the county of Surrey, today it is mainly a residential suburb, and includes Mitcham Common. It has been a settlement throughout recorded history. London Borough Of Merton
The London Borough of Merton () is a borough in Southwest London, England. The borough was formed under the London Government Act 1963 in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon and the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly within Surrey. The main commercial centres in Merton are Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon, of which Wimbledon is the largest. Other smaller centres include Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Tooting Broadway. Belgrave Walk Tram Stop
Belgrave Walk tram stop is a stop on the Tramlink service near Mitcham in the London Borough of Merton. The stop is named after Belgrave Walk, an adjacent residential street to the north. The tram stop consists of an island platform which is accessed by pedestrian level crossings at both ends of the platform. The crossing at the western end only serves the north side of the line, whilst the one at the eastern end forms a path connecting neighbourhoods on either side of the line. Mitcham Junction Station
Mitcham Junction is a National Rail station served by Southern and Thameslink trains, and a Tramlink stop. It is in the London Borough of Merton and is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station opened on 1 October 1868 specifically to provide an interchange between the new "South London & Sutton Junction Railway", later re-branded as part of the Portsmouth Line, and the existing " Wimbledon & Croydon Railway". Despite its name, Mitcham Junction is no longer a railway junction; one of the lines that crossed here (the W&CR) has become a grade-separated tramline, the Croydon Tramlink. Only the Portsmouth Line remains, used by services from and beyond to , and from Sutton to and beyond. Mitcham railway station was a railway station in Mitcham in the London Borough of Merton, England. It closed after the last train ran on 31 May 1997.
