Eskridge, Kansas
Eskridge is a city in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 439. History Eskridge was laid out in 1868. The town experienced growth in 1880 when the railroad was built through it. Eskridge is named for Charles V. Eskridge, an Emporia, Kansas journalist and politician. Colonel Ephraim Sanford, the founder of the town company allowed Eskridge to buy the first lot and have the town named after him. Eskridge served in both houses of the legislature and was elected as lieutenant governor under Governor James M. Harvey in 1869. In 1943, German and Italian prisoners of World War II were brought to Kansas and other Midwest states as a means of solving the labor shortage caused by American men serving in the war effort. Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Harveyville, Kansas
Harveyville is a city in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 178. It is located northwest of the city of Burlingame. History Harveyville was founded in 1880. It was named for Henry Harvey, a missionary to the Shawnee Indians and early settlers at the town site. Harveyville was incorporated as a city in 1905. 2012 Tornado On February 28, 2012, around 9:02 pm, an EF-2 tornado caused damage to Harveyville. Approximately 40 percent of Harveyville's buildings had significant damage and one of the town's two churches was completely destroyed. Dover, Kansas
Dover is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Shawnee County, Kansas, United States. It is located southwest of Topeka. History Settlers came in the year 1856. The Sage and Bassett families in Dover came from Somersetshire, Bristol. Dover was made a voting precinct of Auburn Township, October 1, 1860, and in the fall of 1867, was erected into a township. E.M. Hewins was the first trustee; Jacob Haskell and George Harden, justices. The first postmaster was Alfred Sage, appointed in 1862, and the family name, Sage, is still widespread in the area today. The town of Dover was named after Dover, New Hampshire.
