A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss Grand Myanmar
Miss Grand Myanmar ( my, ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးအလှမယ် မြန်မာ) is an annual female national beauty pageant of Myanmar, founded in 2016 by Yangon-based event organizer Style Plus H. Previously, from 2013 to 2014, the license belonged to the Miss Golden Land Myanmar organization, and then it was under the proprietary of the Miss Universe Myanmar organizer, Hello Madam, during 2017 – 2020. Since 2021, the Glamorous International, headed by a Burmese overseas in Thailand, Htoo Ant Lwin, has been responsible for sending Myanmar delegates to compete at Miss Grand International. Miss Supranational Myanmar also known as Miss Burma Supranational is a national pageant to select Myanmar's representative to the Miss Supranational pageant. This pageant is unrelated to the Miss Universe Myanmar, Miss International Myanmar, Miss World Myanmar or Miss Golden Land Myanmar national contests. History Former, Miss Golden Land Myanmar Organization has been responsible for selecting the representatives of Myanmar for Miss Supranational international pageants from 2013 to 2019. At the time, Miss Golden Land Myanmar was a generic title used to refer to Myanmar representatives to Miss Supranational. Miss Burma was the national beauty pageant in Burma (now Myanmar) from 1947 to 1962. The winner of ''Miss Burma'' also represented her country at the Miss Universe. In 1962, the pageant was banned by the Union Revolutionary Council government because it was considered against Burmese culture. History The term Miss Burma was introduced in Myanmar through the MISS ORGANIZATION and held the Miss Burma 1959 Local Beauty Pageant Competition. Miss World 2015, the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 December 2015 at the outdoor arena of the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. 114 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Rolene Strauss of South Africa crowned her successor Mireia Lalaguna of Spain at the end of the event. It was the first time in the history of Miss World that Spain won the pageant. Since this year, the swimsuit competition (Miss World Beach Beauty) has been officially removed from the pageant. Miss World 2016, the 66th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on December 18, 2016 at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States. 117 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Mireia Lalaguna of Spain crowned her successor Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. It was the second time that the Miss World pageant held in the United States. It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.
