Miss World 1979
Miss World 1979, the 29th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 15 November 1979 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. The winner was Gina Swainson from Bermuda. She was crowned by Miss World 1978, Silvana Suarez of Argentina. First runner-up was Carolyn Seaward representing the United Kingdom and second runner-up was Debbie Campbell from Jamaica. Swainson was a first runner-up in Miss Universe 1979 represented Bermuda and Carolyn Seaward was a second runner-up in same pageant represented England. Live television coverage of the contest was largely abandoned by the BBC as a result of a trade union dispute typical of the era in Britain, when sound engineers refused to work, and the BBC decided shortly beforehand that it could not show live pictures without a commentary. Gina Ann Casandra Swainson (born 6 June 1958) is a Bermudian model and beauty queen who won Miss World 1979 and the first runner-up at Miss Universe 1979. Miss Universe Prior to competing in Miss World, she participated in Miss Universe and placed first runner-up to Miss Universe 1979, Maritza Sayalero of Venezuela. Carolyn Ann Seaward (born 20 December 1960 in Yelverton, Devon, England) is an English actress and beauty pageant titleholder. she also appeared in the 1983 Bond film ''Octopussy''. She won Miss England and Miss United Kingdom in 1979. As Miss England, she was second runner-up at Miss Universe 1979. Then as Miss United Kingdom, she was first runner-up at Miss World 1979. Seaward is one of only three British beauty queens, along with Rosemarie Frankland and Helen Morgan, to have finished in the top three at both the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants. Miss World Australia is a national beauty pageant that selects Australia's representative to the Miss World pageant since 2002. The current Miss World Australia is Sarah Marschke from Sydney, New South Wales. Two Australian representatives have won the Miss World title, in 1968 and 1972. Futtocks End
''Futtocks End'' is a British comedy film released in 1970, directed by Bob Kellett and written by Ronnie Barker. Almost entirely without dialogue, the film includes a musical score, sound effects and incoherent mutterings. The story revolves around a weekend gathering at the decaying country home of the eccentric and lewd Sir Giles Futtock (Ronnie Barker) and the series of saucy mishaps between the staff and his guests. Production and reception It was filmed at Grim's Dyke, the former home of W. S. Gilbert, now a hotel. In 1979 the film was infamously shown, with no prior announcement or explanation, by the BBC in the middle of that year's ''Miss World'' broadcast.
