Miss Malaysia Universe 2003, the 37th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 11 April 2003 at the Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Elaine Daly of Kuala Lumpur was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Karen Ang of Sarawak at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2003 pageant in Panama City, Panama. Daly was also once competed in Miss Malaysia World 1999 where she ended up as runner-up. All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator, doing business as Astro, is a Malaysian satellite television and IPTV provider. It operates in Malaysia and Brunei and operates from the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and MEASAT in Cyberjaya. In 2016, the company was recorded as achieving 71% household penetration in Malaysia. It was granted an exclusive license as the sole pay-television provider by the Malaysian federal government until 2017. Miss Universe Malaysia
Miss Universe Malaysia is an annual national beauty pageant that selects Malaysia's representative to the annual Miss Universe contest. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age or any other reason), a runner-up is sent. History The competition was first held in 1964 when the pageant's title was known as "Miss Malaysia" until 1969 and "Miss Malaysia Universe" from 1970 until 2009 also "Miss Malaya" in 1962 and 1963. No national competition were held in 1968, 2011 and 2021. The pageant was founded in 1962 by Mr. Jaycee Liu Chang Lan who then became the first national director of the pageant. The first franchisee, who signed the contract with Miss Universe Organization was the Petaling Jaya Rotary Club. The pageant is registered under Beyond Entity Sdn. Perak
Perak () is a state of Malaysia on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. Miss Universe 2003, the 52nd Miss Universe pageant, was held on June 3, 2003 at the Figali Convention Center in Panama City, Panama. Amelia Vega of the Dominican Republic was crowned by Justine Pasek of Panama as her successor at the end of the event. This is the 1st time that Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss Universe. 71 contestants competed in this year.
