Miss Universe 1955, the 4th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 22 July 1955 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States, with 33 female competitors. This was the first Miss Universe pageant to be aired on television and CBS became the official broadcaster for the next 47 pageants. Hillevi Rombin
Hillevi Rombin Schine (September 14, 1933 – June 19, 1996) was a Swedish actress and beauty queen who was crowned as Miss Sweden and is the fourth winner of Miss Universe in 1955. She was crowned Miss Sweden Universe 1955 by Miss Sweden Universe 1954, Ragnhild Olausson. In 1996, she became the first Miss Universe title holder to die. Biography She grew up in Uppsala, Uppland, and was the Swedish national decathlon champion before she competed in the pageant. A remarkable athlete, Rombin excelled in gymnastics, track & field, and downhill skiing. After winning the pageant, she left Sweden for Hollywood to fulfill her acting contract with Universal Pictures, part of the prize package as Miss Universe. She studied acting along with John Gavin, Clint Eastwood, and Barbara Eden, among the other contract actors. Hilda Isabel Gorrindo Sarli (; 9 July 193525 June 2019), nicknamed Coca, was an Argentine actress and glamour model who was known for starring in several sexploitation films by Armando Bó, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. She began her career as a model and beauty queen, becoming Miss Argentina and reaching the semi-finals of Miss Universe 1955. She was discovered by Bó in 1956 and made her acting debut the following year with ''Thunder Among the Leaves'', in which a controversial nude scene featuring Sarli made it the first film to feature full frontal nudity in Argentine cinema. As the muse and protagonist of Bó's films, Sarli became the quintessential sex symbol of her country and a popular figure worldwide. Margit Nünke
Margit Nünke (15 November 1930, in Stettin – 10 January 2015, in Munich) was a German actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder. Life Nünke became Miss Germany on 11 June 1955 after previously being Miss North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1956, she won the election for Miss Europe 1956. When Miss Universe 1955 in Long Beach, California, they reached the final and 4th place. She appeared from 1957 to 1965 in nine feature films and two television movies, and from 1984 to 1985 in the TV series A class apart with. Margit Nünke was the female lead in several films and was a partner of Peter Alexander, Gerhard Riedmann, and Toni Sailer, among others. As a singer, she recorded several singles, including a duet with Peter Garden. Later years Nünke lived in Munich with her husband of more than 40 years, actor Peter Garden. Maureen Neliya Ballard (née Hingert) (born 9 January 1937), also professionally known as Jana Davi is a former Sri Lankan dancer, model, actress and beauty pageant titleholder. Biography Hingert was born on 9 January 1937 in Colombo, Ceylon. Her parents, Lionel Hingert and Lorna Mabel del Run, were of Dutch Burgher ancestry. Her father was an employee of the Bank of Ceylon. María Isabel Arrieta Gálvez or Maribel Arrieta (August 22, 1934 – August 31, 1989) was a Salvadoran beauty queen where she represented her country at Miss Universe 1955 in Long Beach, California.
