Miss Teen USA 2017
Miss Teen USA 2017 was the 35th Miss Teen USA pageant held at the Phoenix Symphony Hall in Phoenix, Arizona on July 29, 2017. Karlie Hay of Texas crowned her successor, Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff of Missouri at the end of the event. The pageant was hosted by celebrity personal trainer and author Heidi Powell and E! correspondent Erin Lim, while Mexican singer Jorge Blanco performed. It was the first time the pageant was held in Arizona and the first to broadcast in high dynamic range (HDR) color, virtual reality and on PlayStation consoles. This was the final year that Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants have held separately, due to scheduling changes of the succeeding year's pageant that Dominguez-Heithoff would be the shortest reigning titleholders in the pageant, which held for nine months and 19 days. Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff
Sophia Julieta Dominguez-Heithoff (born March 13, 2000) is an American model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Teen USA 2017. She is the second entrant from Missouri to win the title after Marissa Whitley won Miss Teen USA 2001. Life and career Early life and education Dominguez-Heithoff was born in Kansas City, Missouri to a military family, with her mother serving in the United States Air Force. On her maternal side she is of German descent, while on her paternal side she is Mexican. She graduated from Park Hill South High School a year early in 2017, and attended the University of Kansas, where she studied political science and international studies and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa (ΦΒΚ) honor society. Miss Texas Teen USA
The Miss Texas Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Texas in the Miss Teen USA pageant. This pageant is part of the Miss USA organization, owned by Texas native Crystle Stewart, who was Miss USA for 2008. Texas is in the top 5 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Alongside Oregon they are the only two states to have produced three winners. Chanel Williams of San Antonio was crowned Miss Texas Teen USA 2022 on July 3, 2022, at Hilton Houston Post Oak in Houston. She will represent Texas for the title of Miss Teen USA 2022. Miss Oklahoma Teen USA
The Miss Oklahoma Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Oklahoma in the Miss Teen USA pageant. This pageant is directed by Vanbros and Associates, headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. In 1997, Oklahoma joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. Oklahoma is in the top 5 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Oklahoma's best performance came in the 1980s through the early 1990s. After Oklahoma was taken over by Vanbros there was a six-year lapse, before Nikki Carver brought the state back into the semi-finals in 2003. The state's most recent placement was in 2019, when Abigail Billings finished in the top 15. Miss New York Teen USA
The Miss New York Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of New York in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is directed by D&D Productions. In 1983, New York became the 1st state ever that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time. New York is also one of only five states to have won the Miss Congeniality award at least two times. Miss Maryland Teen USA
The Miss Maryland Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Maryland in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Maryland did not place at Miss Teen USA until 1992, but since then this state has been quite successful, including earning four runner-up placements, and a winner in 2010. Seven Maryland teens have gone on to win the Miss Maryland USA title, and two competed at Miss America. Miss Iowa Teen USA
The Miss Iowa Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Iowa in the Miss Teen USA pageant, which is co-owned by the Miss USA Organization by Crystle Stewart. This pageant is produced by Future Productions, LLC which also produces state pageants for Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Miss Iowa Teen USA 1992 Jamie Solinger was crowned Miss Teen USA at the national pageant held in Biloxi, Mississippi that year. Miss Arizona Teen USA
The Miss Arizona Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Arizona in the Miss Teen USA pageant and the title held by that winner. The first Arizona Teen to place at Miss Teen USA was Jeri-Lynn Beatty who made the top 12 in 1990. Three more Arizona teens have gone on to win the Miss Arizona USA title, including Danielle Demski, one of only two to place in the top five or six at Miss Teen USA. The Miss California Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of California in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It was formed in 1983. This pageant is part of the Miss USA Organization, owned by Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart. California is in the top five most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Miss Indiana Teen USA
The Miss Indiana Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Indiana in the Miss Teen USA pageant. This pageant is currently produced by CROWN MOXIE, LLC headed by JScot Reid. It was formerly produced by MOXIE Media Productions and Sanders & Associates based in Buckhannon, West Virginia before MOXIE Media Productions. Indiana had a slow start at Miss Teen USA, and did not place until 1991. That placement became the first of a four-year streak, which included three semi-finalist and one 1st runner-up placings. Six Indiana teens have gone on to win the Miss Indiana USA crown, more than most other states. Miss Oregon Teen USA
The Miss Oregon Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Oregon in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Until Tennessee's victory in 2009, Oregon was the only state to win more than one Miss Teen USA title. Alongside Texas they are the only two states to have produced three winners. The first two came within the years of each other, when Mindy Duncan won in 1988 becoming the 6th state that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time and Bridgette Wilson won in 1990 who became the 8th Miss Teen USA titleholder. Wilson went on to become a successful actress and was awarded a special "Distinguished Achievement Award" in 1998.
