Miss Teen USA 1993
Miss Teen USA 1993, the 11th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 10 August 1993. At the conclusion of the final competition, Charlotte Lopez of Vermont was crowned by outgoing titleholder Jamie Solinger of Iowa. The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark for the fourth and final year, with color commentary by Arthel Neville and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu for the final time. Music was provided by the Gulf Coast Teen Orchestra. This was the fourth of five years that the pageant was held in Biloxi. Contestants arrived on 26 June and were involved in two weeks of events and preliminary competition prior to the final broadcast, such as pre-taping scenes along the Mississippi coast, and being involved in an autograph signing party. Charlotte Ayanna
Charlotte Ayanna (born Charlotte Lopez; September 25, 1976) is a Puerto Rican-American actress and former Miss Teen USA. Early life Ayanna was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but moved to Vermont at an early age. She had a troubled childhood, spending sixteen years in foster homes after her mother, Emma, was judged to be mentally unfit to look after her children. In 1994, at age 17, she was adopted into a foster home. She has since become a spokeswoman for foster children. Education Attended the University of California, Irvine. Career Her first national exposure was in 1993, when she became Miss Teen USA. Charlotte co-authored a book titled ''Lost in the System'', published in 1996, detailing her childhood and subsequent rise to Miss Teen USA. She later changed her last name to "Ayanna", meaning "blessed" in Cherokee. Miss Georgia Teen USA
The Miss Georgia Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Georgia in the Miss Teen USA pageant. This pageant is directed Greenwood Productions under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989 Kim Greenwood. The pageant is hosted on McDonough, Georgia. Georgia is in the top 5 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Despite this, like their sister pageant, Miss Georgia USA, they have never won the competition despite having placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th as well as several finalist and semi-finalist spots. They have never won any of the main awards, but did win Style awards in 1999 and 2000. Miss Teen USA 1989, the 7th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Orange Pavilion, San Bernardino, California on July 25, 1989. At the conclusion of the final competition, Brandi Sherwood of Idaho was crowned by outgoing titleholder Mindy Duncan of Oregon. Miss Teen USA 1990, the 8th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 16, 1990. At the conclusion of the final competition, Bridgette Wilson of Oregon was crowned by outgoing titleholder Brandi Sherwood of Idaho. 1990 marked the year that Oregon won the pageant for the second of three times in the history of the pageant. Oregon and Texas are the only states that have won more than two Miss Teen USA titles, Oregon: Mindy Duncan in 1988, Bridgette Wilson in 1990 and Tami Farrell in 2003. Miss Teen USA 1991
Miss Teen USA 1991, the 9th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 19 August 1991. At the conclusion of the final competition, Janel Bishop of New Hampshire was crowned by outgoing titleholder Bridgette Wilson of Oregon. Bishop is the first African American winner ever and the first titleholder from New Hampshire. The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark (who last hosted it in 1988 and was already also hosting Miss USA & Miss Universe Pageants on CBS), with color commentary by Leeza Gibbons and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu for the second time. The Miss Missouri Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Missouri in the Miss Teen USA pageant. It is directed by Vanbros and Associates, based in Lenexa, Kansas. In 1993, Missouri joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. Missouri is in the top 10 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Six Missouri teens have gone on to compete at Miss USA, although only four as Miss Missouri USA. The other two represented Kansas, another Vanbros state. The Miss South Carolina Teen USA pageant is the competition that selects the representatives for the state of South Carolina in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Miss Oregon Teen USA
The Miss Oregon Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Oregon in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Until Tennessee's victory in 2009, Oregon was the only state to win more than one Miss Teen USA title. Alongside Texas they are the only two states to have produced three winners. The first two came within the years of each other, when Mindy Duncan won in 1988 becoming the 6th state that won the Miss Teen USA title for the first time and Bridgette Wilson won in 1990 who became the 8th Miss Teen USA titleholder. Wilson went on to become a successful actress and was awarded a special "Distinguished Achievement Award" in 1998. Miss Ohio Teen USA
The Miss Ohio Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Ohio in the Miss Teen USA pageant and the name of the title held by that winner. Most recently the pageant has been held in Springfield, Ohio and was previously held in Portsmouth for 14 years. Contestants compete in three competition segments: swimsuit, interview, and evening gown. Prizes include a scholarship to Lindenwood University. Their first Miss Teen USA title came in 2005 Allie LaForce won the national crown, Ohio's first placement since 1993. LaForce went on to become a successful sports broadcaster. The Miss Maine Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Maine in the Miss Teen USA pageant. The pageant is directed by The Clemente Organization. Maine is one of the least successful states at Miss Teen USA, having placed only four times. Their highest placement was in 1995, when Katie Aselton finished 1st runner-up to Keylee Sue Sanders.
