Miss South Africa 2016
The Miss South Africa 2016 took place on March 19, 2016 at the Carnival City's Big Top Arena, in a contest where twelve contestants from different provinces competed for the crown. The winner, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene from Mkhondo, was crowned by the outgoing title holder, Liesl Laurie (Miss South Africa 2015). Kunene represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2016 and Miss World 2016 pageants. Mkhondo BBK Municipality
Piet Retief, officially eMkhondo, is a town situated in a timber-growing region in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. It is the seat of the Mkhondo Local Municipality. It is located not far from the Eswatini border. History The town was founded by the Voortrekkers in 1883 and named it after the Voortrekker leader, Piet Retief, who was killed by the Zulus under their King Dingane's orders, after a negotiation for land failed. In 1886, the inhabitants of the town declared the ''Klein Vrystaat'' (''Little Free State''), which contained a population of only 72. This republic existed until 1891, when it was incorporated into the South African Republic. The town became a municipality in 1932. Nelspruit
Mbombela (also known as Nelspruit) is a city in northeastern South Africa. It is the capital of the Mpumalanga province. Located on the Crocodile River (Mpumalanga), Crocodile River, Mbombela lies about by road west of the Mozambique border, east of Johannesburg and north of the Eswatini border. Sophie Ndaba
Sophie Lichaba (born 29 June 1973), née Mphasane, formerly Sophie Ndaba, is a South African actress. She played Queen Moroka in the soap ''Generations''. In 2016, she was guest judge in the final Miss South Africa 2016 beauty pageant. Education She completed high school in Zimbabwe, after which she pursued her modeling career. Her mother sent her to an orphanage in Eastlea, Harare, Zimbabwe so she could get a better education than what was available in apartheid South Africa. Frank Kojo Baffoe Jr. (known as Kojo Baffoe) is a writer, poet, blogger, media consultant (television and print), producer, columnist, former editor of Destiny Man, and is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Early life Kojo was born 10 April 1972 in Munich, Germany to a Ghanaian father and German mother. His father, Frank Baffoe was a business man and diplomat based in Lesotho. Basetsana Julia "Bassie" Kumalo (née Makgalemele; born 29 March 1974) is a South African television personality, beauty pageant titleholder, businesswoman, and philanthropist. Her career began in 1990 when she was crowned Miss Soweto and Miss Black South Africa at the age of 16.
