Miss Philippines Earth 2016
Miss Philippines Earth 2016 was the 16th edition of the Miss Philippines Earth pageant. It was held on June 11, 2016, at the UP Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila. Angelia Gabrena Ong of Manila crowned Imelda Schweighart of Puerto Princesa City at the end of the event. Schweighart represented the Philippines at the Miss Earth 2016 pageant but failed to make it to the semifinals. The coronation night was supposed to be held at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite but due to severe weather conditions, this was later moved to the UP Theater in Quezon City. Due to the controversies prior to and after Miss Earth 2016, Imelda resigned from her duties as Miss Philippines Earth. Miss Philippines Earth-Water 2016 Loren Mar Artajos assumed the responsibilities Imelda has left. It was supposed to be handed over to Kiera Giel Gregorio but declined due to her law school commitments in London, therefore relinquishes her crown as well. Miss Philippines Earth
Miss Philippines Earth (2004–2017, 2019–present), originally titled Miss Philippines (2001–2003) then Miss Earth Philippines (2018), is a national beauty pageant held annually in search of "the most beautiful and environmentally-conscious and aware woman" in the Philippines. The grand winner of the pageant represents the Philippines in Miss Earth, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants – the most coveted beauty titles among all the international pageant competitions. The current titleholder of the pageant is Jenny Ramp of Santa Ignacia, Tarlac who was crowned on August 6, 2022 in Coron, Palawan. The Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine is a national shrine located in Kawit, Cavite in the Philippines, where the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain was declared on June 12, 1898. Miss Earth 2016
Miss Earth 2016, the 16th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, with the theme "Empowered to make a Change", was held on October 29, 2016, at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. 83 contestants from all over the world competed for the title. Angelia Ong of the Philippines crowned her successor Katherine Espín of Ecuador at the end of the event becoming the second Ecuadorian woman to win the title of Miss Earth and the first since Olga Álava in 2011. This year's edition also features the newly polished and modified crown created by Florida-based jeweler, ''Ramona Haar''.
