Miss Nepal 2007
Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2007, the 12th Miss Nepal pageant held on April 7, 2007, at the Birendra International Conference Convention Centre in Nepal. It was won by Sitashma Chand, of Lalitpur. The event was surrounded by heavy protests from Maoist and Feminist activists. The show was broadcast live by Nepal Television but suffered from minor technical glitches. The chief judge of the event, Kollywood actor Rajesh Hamal, asked the top 5 finalists, "Are all traditions to be followed without question or do they need to be discussed and amended?" The contestants were supported by fashion designer groups INIFD, NEFT, Lakhotia and others. The event differed from previous pageants in that it featured modifications of Nepal's traditional ethnic dresses. Designs from INIFD (International Institute of Fashion Design) were judged to be better than the dresses from competing designers. Sitashma Chand
Sitashma Chand ( ne, सिताश्मा चन्द; born 31 October 1983) is a Nepalese professional model and beauty queen who won Miss Nepal in 2007. She was crowned as Miss Nepal 2007 in Kathmandu on April 7, 2007. She represented Nepal in Miss World 2007. Personal life Sitashma Chand was born in Kathmandu on 31 October 1983. She studied at St. Mary School in Kathmandu where she used to be a captain of her college’s girls basketball team. She later joined Rato Bangla women’s club. It was under her captainship that the team won two national championships in the years 2004 and 2005. She had a long-term boyfriend with whom she broke up with after moving to UAE. Miss Earth 2007
Miss Earth 2007, the 7th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 12, 2007 at the University of the Philippines Theater, inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. 30 delegates also visited Nha Trang, Vietnam. 88 delegates competed for the title, making 2007 the largest edition of delegates for Miss Earth. The pageant was hosted by MTV Asia VJ Greg Uttsada Panichkul, Priscilla Meirelles and Ginger Conejero. Hil Hernández from Chile crowned her successor Jessica Trisko from Canada the end of the event. Pooja Chitgopekar from India won her second consecutive Miss Air title (first runner-up). Silvana Santaella from Venezuela was proclaimed Miss Water (second runner-up). Morang District ( ne, मोरङ जिल्ला ) is located in Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal. It is an Outer Terai district. Jhapa ( ne, झापा जिल्ला; ) is a district of Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal named after a Rajbanshi word "Jhapa" meaning "to cover" (verb). Lumbini
Lumbinī ( ne, लुम्बिनी, IPA=ˈlumbini , "the lovely") is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province in Nepal.
