Mislinja (river)
The Mislinja () is a river in the northern part of Slovenia. It is long. It flows through Mislinja and Slovenj Gradec and empties from the right into the Meža River north of the village of Otiški Vrh near Dravograd, only a couple hundred meters before the Meža joins the Drava River. Name The name ''Mislinja'' is derived from the phrase ''*Myslin'a (voda)'' (literally, 'Myslinъ's creek'), thus referring to a person or people living along the watercourse. Slovenj Gradec
Slovenj Gradec (; german: Windischgrätz'', ''after about 1900 ''Windischgraz'') is a town in northern Slovenia. It is the centre of the City Municipality of Slovenj Gradec. It is part of the historical Styria region, and since 2005 it has belonged to the NUTS-3 Carinthia Statistical Region. It is located in the Mislinja Valley at the eastern end of the Karawanks mountain range, about west of Maribor and northeast of Ljubljana. History ''Gradec'', Slovene for 'little castle', was first mentioned in a 1091 deed, then part of the Imperial March of Styria. The prefix ''Windisch'' (the traditional German name for Slavs in general and Slovenes in particular) was added to distinguish it from the city Graz (whose name has the same etymology). Meža
The Meža ( Slovene) or Mieß (German; ) is a river in the Austrian state of Carinthia and in Slovenia, a right tributary of the Drava. It is long, of which are in Slovenia. The area traditionally belonged to Styria. In 1995 it became part of the newly formed Carinthia Statistical Region. Geography Mislinja is a sprawling settlement along the upper watershed of the Mislinja River. It includes the core hamlet of Šentlenart as well as Movže to the south, Plavž, Glažuta, Stara Glažuta, Spodnja Komisija, and Zgornja Komisija to the northeast, and Straže and Vovkarje to the west. Otiški Vrh
Otiški Vrh (, in older sources also ''Otišni vrh'', german: Ottischnigberg) is a dispersed settlement in the hills southeast of Dravograd in the Styria region in northern Slovenia. Geography The Mislinja River joins the Meža River from the right north of the village of Otiški Vrh, only a couple of hundred meters before the Meža joins the Drava River. History In 2004, the settlement of Bukovje was administratively separated from Otiški Vrh. Mass grave Otiški Vrh is the site of a mass grave associated with the Second World War. The Bavh Mass Grave ( sl, Grobišče Pod Bavhom) is located below the Bavh farm in the western part of the settlement, northeast of the main road, on the steep edge of a wooded slope by a large pine tree. Dravograd
Dravograd (; german: Unterdrauburg) is a small town in northern Slovenia, close to the border with Austria. It is the seat of the Municipality of Dravograd. It lies on the Drava River at the confluence with the Meža and the Mislinja. It is part of the traditional Slovenian provinces of Carinthia and the larger Carinthia Statistical Region. History From 976 onwards the Dravograd area was part of the Duchy of Carinthia. The German name ''Unterdrauburg'' denoted the place where the Drava River left Carinthia and flowed into the neighbouring Duchy of Styria.
