Mirza Tofazzal Hossain Mukul
Mirza Tofazzal Hossain Mukul was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former Member of Parliament of Tangail-5. Career Mukul was elected to parliament from Tangail-5 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in 1973. He was the former President of Tangail District unit of Bangladesh Awami League and Tangail District Bar Association. Death and legacy Mukul died on 5 April 2016 in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. His son in law, Abdur Rahman, is the member of parliament from Faridpur-1. On 22 January 2022, Mukul was awarded the Ekushey Padak Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is a graduate medical university in Bangladesh. It was established in 1965. The university offers postgraduate degrees only, not offering undergraduate medical or dental degrees. History Establishment of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University was an upgrade of the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR). IPGMR was established in December 1965, as a Government-controlled postgraduate institute for medical research and studies. It was housed in the now defunct Hotel Shahbag, once the biggest hotel in Dhaka. The neighbourhood got its name Shahbag from the name of the hotel. Abdur Rahman (Faridpur Politician)
Abdur Rahman (born 14 July 1955) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He was the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh. Rahman is a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Faridpur-1 constituency. He is a Presidium Member of Awami League. Early life Rahman has an M.S.S. and L.L.B from the University of Dhaka. He was the general secretary of the student political organization Bangladesh Chhatra League from 1986 to 1988. Career Rahman was elected to parliament in 2014 from Faridpur-1 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate. Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019.
