Mir Painda Khan
Painda Khan Tanoli was a powerful chief and warrior in Tanawal area of North-West Frontier region of India. Painda Khan's rebellion against the Sikh empire cost him much of his kingdom, leaving only the tract around Amb,''The Gazetteer of North-West Frontier Province'', p. 138 with its twin capitals of Amb and Darband. He played a considerable part in fighting the Sikh Empire and Afghan empire of the region. The son of Nawab Khan, from about 1813, Painda Khan began the series of rebellions against the Sikhs which continued throughout his lifetime. To combat Khan, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, sent Hari Singh Nalwa to Hazara as governor, and Singh created a number of forts at strategic locations. Amb (princely State)
Amb or Kingdom of Amb also Feudal Tanawal (Urdu/Persian: ''ریاست امب,'' romanized: ''Riyasat-e-Amb'') was a princely state in the present day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan. Mir Nawab Khan Tanoli
Mir Nawab Khan Tanoli was the ruler of The Tanawal valley and the Chief of the Hazara region from circa 1810 until he died in 1818. During his rule, he faced many attacks from the Sikh Empire and Durrani Empire, resulting in a significant loss of territory. He was 26 years old, when he was assassinated by Azim Khan on October 13, 1818 in the Stratagem of Peshawar. The main reason for the war is that Mir Nawab Khan who defied Durrani and other main reason was that when Azim Khan's mother was traveling to Kashmir via Tanwal, Nawab Khan's soldier collected the tax. Azim Khan then traveled through Tanwal and then Nawab Khan's soldiers collected taxes through Azim Khan. After Azim Khan felt ashamed and was admitted to the Afghan court then the Afghans Ruler of that time sent their army. Swati (Pashtun Tribe)
Swatis (Urdu: سواتی, Pashto: سواتي) are a Pashtun tribe, mostly inhabiting the Hazara Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. They are mostly agricultural and are the biggest land owning tribe in the districts of Mansehra and Batagram (Feudal Tanawal excluded). Swatis are divided into four major tribal clans: Gabri (گبری), Mitravi (متراوی), Mumyaali (ممیالی) and Toar (ٹوڑ). Some of them speak Hindko in towns like Mansehra, Balakot, Naran, Kaghan and Garhi Habibullah while majority of them speak Pashto as a mother tongue. Their code of conduct and customs are similar to Pashtunwali, and are called Swatiwali. Swatis are sometimes referred to as Suwadis and Servatis. The valley of Agror is located in the Hazara region of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of northern Pakistan. Its territory makes up Oghi Tehsil, an administrative unit of Mansehra District. Princely State
A princely state (also called native state or Indian state) was a nominally sovereign entity of the British Raj, British Indian Empire that was not directly governed by the British, but rather by an Indian ruler under a form of indirect rule, subject to a subsidiary alliance and the suzerainty or paramountcy of the the Crown, British crown. Maddad Khan Tanoli was the younger brother of Mir Painda Khan. He played a considerable part in fighting the Sikh Empire with his brother Painda Khan.
