Minu Haque
Minu Haque () is a Bangladeshi dancer and choreographer. She specialises in Odissi dance. Early life and career Haque was born to her parents Meter Billah and Mina Billah. Haque started dancing at the age of 5. She was a trained by Dulal Talukder. Later she joined Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) in 1967. She completed her matriculation in 1968 from Motijheel Girl's High School. During the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, Haque served as a nurse in Bishramganj, Agartala (Field Sector 2), India. In 1977, she completed her master's in Psychology at the University of Dhaka. She is associated with the Bangladesh Dance Artist Association. She founded an Odissi dance school called Pallavi Dance Center in 1997. She is serving as the President of the Bangladesh Nrittya Shilpi Shongstha. Personal life Haque is married to Shahudul Haque. The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. Shimul Yousuf
Shimul Yousuf (born 24 March 1957) is a Bangladeshi actress, director and singer. She was awarded the Ekushey Padak, the second most important award for civilians in Bangladesh in 2023. Early life Yousuf was born in Dhaka on 24 March 1957 and is the youngest of seven siblings. Odissi dancer Minu Haque is her sister. Her father Mehter Billah from Bikrampur was a singer in Kamlapur. Shimul started singing at the age of five. She performed on radio and television and went on to sing in a children show named "Kochi Kanchar Mela". She trained in classical and traditional songs from Ustad Helaluddin, P C Gomez, Altaf Mahmud, and Abdul Latif . Shimul completed her Honours in Social Science. She was admitted to the Institute of Fine Arts and also went to Baroda School of Fine Arts for schooling. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019. Altaf Mahmud ( bn, আলতাফ মাহমুদ; 23 December 1933 – September 1971) was a musician, cultural activist, and martyred freedom fighter of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was also a language activist of the Language Movement and composer of "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano", the famous song written to commemorate the event.
