Minnesota State Highway 242
Minnesota State Highway 242 was a highway in Minnesota. It connected U.S. Highway 10 and Minnesota State Highway 47 near Coon Rapids with Minnesota State Highway 65 in Blaine. It has been classified by the Metropolitan Council as a primary arterial street. Route description Highway 242 originally served as an east–west route between the cities of Anoka, Coon Rapids, and Blaine. The route was legally defined as Route 242 in the Minnesota Statutes. History Highway 242 was authorized on July 1, 1949 and was paved when it was marked. The highway used to run to downtown Anoka, but in 1979 it was truncated at its easternmost intersection with U.S. Highway 10. On June 15, 2007, Highway 242 was transferred from the State of Minnesota to Anoka County maintenance. It is now an extension of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 14. Coon Rapids is a northern suburb of Minneapolis, and is the largest city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 63,599 at the 2020 census, making it the fifteenth largest city in Minnesota and the seventh largest Twin Cities suburb. Minnesota State Highway 47 (MN 47) is a highway in east–central Minnesota, which runs from its intersection with ''Central Avenue'' ( State Highway 65) in Minneapolis and continues north to its northern terminus at its intersection with U.S. Highway 169 in Aitkin. For part of its route (8 miles), it runs together with U.S. Highway 10 in Coon Rapids and Anoka. Minnesota State Highway 65 (MN 65) is a highway in the east–central and northeast parts of the U.S. state of Minnesota, which starts at its split from I-35W, skipping past the downtown Minneapolis core, only to resume at the intersection with ''Washington Avenue'' (Hennepin County Road 152) at the north end of downtown Minneapolis to continue north to its northern terminus at its intersection with U.S. Highway 71 (US 71) in Littlefork near International Falls. The following is a list of county-maintained roads in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. Many routes in this list are also county-state-aid-highways (CSAH.) CR 1–CR 25 County Road 1 runs from County Road 14 (East Main Street) in Anoka, then follows 5th Avenue, East River Road and Coon Rapids Boulevard into Coon Rapids. It splits with County Road 3 further east in the city, then follows East River Road through Fridley parallel to the Mississippi River.
