Minnamurra
Minnamurra is a suburb in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia, in the Municipality of Kiama. It has a station (opened 1891) on City Rail South Coast line. The Minnamurra River flows into the ocean at Minnamurra. There is a sandy beach and a sand spit at the river mouth. The name Minnamurra means "plenty of fish" in the local Aboriginal dialect. Aboriginal people of the Dharawal language group are the original inhabitants and traditional custodians of the area now known as Minnamurra and its surroundings. Within a two-hour drive south of Sydney, the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre is located just 15 km west of Kiama on the NSW South Coast (Tourist Drive '9'). Minnamurra River
The Minnamurra River, an open mature wave dominated barrier estuary, is located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Location and features Minnamurra River rises within the Budderoo National Park on the eastern slopes of the Illawarra escarpment, west of the village of Jamberoo and north of Missingham Pass, and flows generally east, descending the Minamurra Falls. The river drains into the Jamberoo Valley surrounded by Stockyard Mountain to the north, Jamberoo Mountain to the west and Noorinan and Saddleback Mountain to the south. The mouth of the river lies immediately north of the Kiama suburb of Minnamurra at Minnamurra Point. The entrance is characterised by a small island just offshore from the mouth. Minnamurra Railway Station, New South Wales
Minnamurra is a single-platform intercity train station located in Minnamurra, New South Wales, Australia, on the South Coast railway line. The station serves NSW TrainLink trains traveling south to Kiama and north to Wollongong and Sydney. While the railway line through Minnamurra opened in 1887, the station didn't open until four years later. In 1943, it moved to its present location. The station has no platform building and is not staffed. Electric multiple unit trains began to service the station from November 2001. Dunmore, New South Wales
Dunmore is a largely rural suburb of Shellharbour City in New South Wales, Australia. Dunmore is bisected north to south by the South Coast railway line and the Princes Highway. History Much of the present-day City of Shellharbour was originally part of the 13,000-acre Peterborough Estate, granted to discharged convict and colonial politician D'Arcy Wentworth in 1821. In 1865, a 2,560-acre portion of the estate was advertised for sale. The land stretched along the Minnamurra River in the south of the estate, towards Jamberoo. Local shopkeeper George Lawrence Fuller bought the property and named it Dunmore after his birthplace in County Galway, Ireland. Budderoo National Park
The Budderoo National Park is a national park that is located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia; situated approximately south southwest of Sydney. Location and features The National Parks & Wildlife Servicemanaged park is best known for the timber boardwalk through the Minnamurra rainforest. The park features waterfalls, picnic and barbecue areas, and a visitors centre. The Division of Gilmore is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. History The Division of Gilmore was created in 1984 when the House of Representatives was expanded, and was named after Dame Mary Gilmore, the poet and author. The seat was first won by John Sharp of the National Party. The electorate originally included the areas of Goulburn and Southern Highlands but, following a redistribution, the seat moved to its current boundaries along the New South Wales South Coast. As a consequence, Sharp moved to the nearby seat of Hume in 1993. He served in the First Howard Ministry until he resigned in 1997 due to the "travel rorts affair".
