The Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports () is a government department of Greece. One of the oldest ministries, established in 1833, it is responsible for running the country's education system and for supervising the religions in Greece. Georgios Ath. Souflias () (born July 7, 1941) is a Greek politician. He is a member of the New Democracy political party and was Minister for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works for the duration of the Karamanlis administration. Aristides Baltas
Aristides Baltas (; born 9 February 1943) is a philosopher of science and physicist who served as the Minister of Culture and Sports of Greece and as the Minister of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs in the cabinet of Alexis Tsipras from 27 January 2015 to 4 November 2016. He is currently the Emeritus Professor of Philosophy of Science at the National Technical University of Athens and President of the Nicos Poulantzas Institute. Andreas Loverdos ( ; born 15 May 1956) is a Greek politician who was Minister for Education and Religious Affairs from 2014 to 2015. Early life Loverdos was born in Patras. He graduated from the law school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1978. From 1978 until 1980, he fulfilled his obligatory military service in the Hellenic Air Force. In 1982, he completed postgraduate studies in European law at the Université libre de Bruxelles. During his studies, he served as vice-president of the Thessaloniki law students' union as well as president of the Greek students' association of Belgium. Georgios Babiniotis (, ; born 6 January 1939) is a Greek linguist and philologist and former Minister of Education and Religious Affairs of Greece.
