The Uganda Ministry of East African Community Affairs is a cabinet level-ministry headed by Minister Kahinda Otafiire. Location The headquarters of the ministry are on the second and ninth floors of the Postel Building, at 67–75 Yusuf Lule Road in the Central Division of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. Overview The ministry was created in 2007 with the major objective of coordinating the affairs of the government of Uganda with the East African Community, which includes Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Tanzania. Government Of Uganda
Uganda is a presidential republic in which the President of Uganda is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government business. There is a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is given to both the government and the National Assembly. The system is based on a democratic parliamentary system with equal rights for all citizens over 18 years of age. Kahinda Otafiire
Major General Kahinda Otafiire is a Ugandan politician and retired military officer. He is the current Minister of Internal Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda, since 8 June 2021. He previously served as the Justice & Constitutional Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position of 27 May 2011. Otafiire is also the elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Ruhinda County, Mitooma District in the Ugandan Parliament. Background and education He was born in Mitooma District on 29 December 1950. Kampala Central Division is one of the five divisions that make up Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The city's five divisions are: (a) Kampala Central Division (b) Kawempe Division (c) Lubaga Division (d) Makindye Division and (e) Nakawa Division. Location The division comprises the central business district of the largest city in Uganda and includes the areas of Old Kampala, Nakasero and Kololo. East African Community
The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organisation composed of seven countries in the Great Lakes region of East Africa: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republics of Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda. Rebecca Kadaga
Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga (born 24 May 1956) is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 until 21 May 2021. She currently serves as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda. She concurrently serves as Minister for East African Community Affairs, in the Cabinet of Uganda. She is the first woman to be elected Speaker in the history of the Parliament of Uganda. She succeeded Edward Ssekandi, who served as Speaker from 2001 to 2011. Ali Kirunda Kivejinja (12 June 1935 – 19 December 2020), more commonly known as Kirunda Kivejinja, was a veteran Politics of Uganda, Ugandan politician and senior presidential advisor to the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni. He at the time of his demise was the Prime Minister of Uganda, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without portfolio#Uganda, Minister without portfolio in the Cabinet of Uganda, Ugandan Cabinet. Previously, he served as the Minister for Relief and Social Rehabilitation, Internal Affairs and as Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda. Eriya Kategaya
Eriya Kategaya (4 July 1945 – 2 March 2013) was a Ugandan lawyer and politician. At the time of his death he was Uganda's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs. He was also an ''ex officio'' Member of the Ugandan Parliament, on account of being a cabinet minister. Background He was born on 4 July 1943 in Karagwe Itojo, Ntungamo District, in Western Uganda. Eriya Kategaya was a longtime associate of President Yoweri Museveni, starting from their school days in Ntare School. They studied together at Mbarara High School and later at Ntare School from 1961 to 1966. Kategaya and Museveni also attended the University of Dar es Salaam at the same time.
