The Ministry of Infrastructure (Swedish: ''Infrastrukturdepartementet'') is a ministry within the government of Sweden responsible for matters regarding transport and infrastructure, digitization, mail and energy.Förordning om ändring i förordningen (1996:1515) med instruktion för Regeringskansliet, SFS 2019:122PDF s. 1). The ministry will be joint with The Ministry of Rural Affairs on 1 January 2023. Minister for Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren ( KD) is the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure. The Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson (KD) is also located here. History The Ministry of Infrastructure was formed on April 1, 2019 and took over some responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Environment. The Swedish Transport Agency ( sv, Transportstyrelsen) is a Swedish government agency which is responsible for the regulation of rail, air, sea and road transport and its enforcement. Swedish Maritime Administration
The Swedish Maritime Administration ( sv, Sjöfartsverket) is the government agency in Sweden which provides services to the transport sector by keeping the sea lanes open and safe. The agency is to a certain degree financed through fees levied on commercial shipping. The main services of the Maritime Administration include: pilotage, maintenance of marine fairways, ice-breaking, hydrographics, maritime search and rescue, seamen's service. It also maintains the lighthouses and other aids to navigation of Sweden. Until 1 January 2009, it also was responsible for maritime safety inspection.
