The Ministry of Family and Social Services ( tr, Aile ve Sosyal Hizmetler Bakanlığı) is a government ministry of the Republic of Turkey, responsible for family affairs and social services. The ministry is headed by Derya Yanık. History Before the establishment of the ministry in 2011, the portfolio of women and family affairs was executed by a state minister in the cabinet with the help of the Agency for Social Services and Children Protection ( tr, BaÅŸbakanlık Sosyal Hizmetler ve Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu). The first head of the new established ministry was Fatma Åžahin. In 2018, the ministry was merged with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to form the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services. The 52nd government of Turkey (30 October 1995 – 6 March 1996) was a caretaker coalition government formed by True Path Party (DYP) and Republican People's Party (CHP). Background The 50th government of Turkey came to an end because Deniz Baykal of CHP asked for an earlier date for the scheduled elections. Prime minister Tansu Çiller tried a minority government, but the 51st government of Turkey could not receive the vote of confidence. Işılay Saygın (April 4, 1947 – July 26, 2019) was a Turkish architect, politician, and four-time government minister between 1995 and 1999. Ä°ÅŸilay Saygın was born to Osman Nuri Saygın and his wife Fatma in Buca district of Ä°zmir Province, western Turkey. She graduated from Faculty of Architecture at Ege University. Saygın entered politics in 1973 from the Justice Party (AP) and served two terms as district mayor of her hometown. Her post ended in 1980 after the military coup that year.
