Minister For Training And Workforce Development
Minister for Training and Workforce Development is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by Simone McGurk of the Labor party. The position was first created after the 1933 state election, for the government of Philip Collier, but was abolished in 1943 and not re-created until 1982. It had been a distinct portfolio in most governments since then, albeit under several different names. The minister was responsible for the state government's Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD). Following the WA State Election in 2017, the portfolio no longer exists. The new portfolio is now Education and Training, held by Sue Ellery. Norman Moore (politician)
Norman Frederick Moore (born 24 August 1945) is a former Western Australian politician. From 2008 to 2013 he was Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Fisheries; Electoral Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council. From 12 to 29 June 2012, he was the Minister for Justice. He held a seat for the Electoral region of Mining and Pastoral and is a member of the Liberal Party. Born in Kalgoorlie, Moore worked as a high school principal before entering the Western Australian Legislative Council in 1977 as a member of the Lower North Province, defeating incumbent Labor member Stan Dellar in that year's state election. The position was first created in 1984, for the government of Brian Burke, and has existed in most governments since then. Liza Mary Harvey (née Browne; born 25 October 1966) is an Australian politician who was the Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 2008 to 2021, representing the seat of Scarborough. She was a minister in the government of Colin Barnett, and in 2016 was appointed deputy premier, becoming the first woman to hold the position. She became leader of the opposition after being elected unopposed to replace Mike Nahan as state Liberal leader on 13 June 2019. Kim Hames
Kim Desmond Hames (born 24 March 1953) is an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1993 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2017. He served as a minister in the governments of Richard Court and Colin Barnett, and was deputy premier to Barnett from 2008 to 2016. Hames retired from parliament at the 2017 state election. The National Party of Australia (WA) Inc, branded The Nationals WA, is a political party in Western Australia. It is affiliated with the National Party of Australia but maintains a separate structure and identity. Since the 2021 state election, the Nationals WA is the senior party in an opposition alliance with the WA Liberal Party in the WA Parliament. Peter Charles Collier (born 25 February 1959) is an Australian politician who has been a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia since 2005, representing North Metropolitan Region.
