Minford High School
Minford High School (MHS) is a rural, public, high school located in Minford, Ohio in Scioto County in Southern Ohio. It is the only high school in the Minford Local School District. The school mascot is the falcon and the school colors are scarlet and grey. Brief history The first high school was opened in 1923, but in 1971 it was turned into the middle school when the new high school was built. In the early 1980s the high school, having been built on top of a swamp, began to sink and the walls began to crack. In 2001 a new high school was built. The old high school was demolished and rebuilt upon pillars as the new elementary/middle school. The 1923 school was demolished and the land is now a commercial site (Desco Federal Credit Union). Athletics There are ten school districts and eleven high schools in Scioto County along with one parochial school as well several private and community schools. Scioto County is a county located along the Ohio River in the south central region of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,008. Its county seat is Portsmouth. The county was founded March 24, 1804, from Adams County and is named for a Native American word referring to deer or deer-hunting. Marlington High School is a public high school in Lexington Township, Ohio near Alliance. It is the only high school in the Marlington Local School District. The name is a portmanteau of Marlboro and Lexington or Washington townships, and the district actually covers those mostly rural areas and northern, western, and southern parts of Alliance itself (the middle and high schools are located just outside the city limits, and there is an elementary school in each of the three townships). Tallmadge High School is a public high school in Tallmadge, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Tallmadge City School District. Minford, Ohio
Minford is a census-designated place located on the border of Harrison and Madison townships in northeastern Scioto County, Ohio, United States, about northeast of the county seat of Portsmouth. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 693. History The community was originally formed as Harrisonville in 1859, but its name was changed to Minford in 1917 due to the construction of the C&O Railroad, as there was another town along the railroad already named Harrisonville.
