Mindwarp
''Mindwarp'' is the second serial of the larger narrative known as ''The Trial of a Time Lord'' which encompasses the whole of the 23rd season of the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. It was first broadcast in four weekly parts on BBC1 from 4 to 25 October 1986. The title ''Mindwarp'' is not used on screen and appears only on the serial's scripts with the four episodes that comprise the story being transmitted as ''The Trial of a Time Lord'' Parts Five to Eight. This story marks the final appearance of Nicola Bryant as Peri Brown. In the serial, the alien time traveller the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) is put on trial by his people, the Time Lords, and is accused of meddling in the affairs of the planet Thoros Beta in the 24th century. The twenty-third season of British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', known collectively as ''The Trial of a Time Lord'', aired in weekly episodes from 6 September to 6 December 1986. It contained four adventures: ''The Mysterious Planet'', ''Mindwarp'', ''Terror of the Vervoids'' and ''The Ultimate Foe''; the season also marked the final regular appearance of Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. The idea for the serial stemmed from several production changes to ''Doctor Who'', such as reduced screen time for the season and an instruction from BBC1 controller Michael Grade that the series needed to contain less violence and more humour. Several problems occurred during production, including the death of scriptwriter Robert Holmes and the resignation of script editor Eric Saward. Perpugilliam “Peri” Brown, is a fictional character played by Nicola Bryant in the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. The Valeyard () is a fictional character from the long-running British science fiction television series, ''Doctor Who''. He is described by the Master as an amalgamation of the Doctor's darker sides from between his twelfth and final incarnations. Sil is a fictional alien from the television series '' Doctor Who'', first appeared in the 1985 serial ''Vengeance on Varos''. Sil was portrayed by Nabil Shaban. Overview Sil was the representative of the Galatron Mining Corporation present on the planet Varos to extract concessions from the current Governor. Unbeknownst to the Varosians, the mineral Zeiton-7 which was abundant on their planet was not as they thought nearly valueless, but in fact rare, particularly to time travellers. The Varosians lived barely above the poverty line due to the exploitation of companies like the Galatron Mining Corporation and others. Richard Neville Hartley is an English composer, best known for his work on ''The Rocky Horror Show''. He grew up in Holmfirth. Career In the 1970s he began a long association with Richard O'Brien. Hartley was originally part of the four-piece band for ''The Rocky Horror Show''. Philip Martin (3 July 1938 – 13 December 2020) was an English television screenwriter. He created the BBC television drama series ''Gangsters'' in the 1970s and later wrote two television serials for ''Doctor Who'' during Colin Baker's tenure as the Sixth Doctor in the 1980s. Career His early work included regular series such as ''Z-Cars'' in the late 1960s/early 1970s, but his most famous work is the postmodern television series ''Gangsters''. Ron Jones (6 August 1945 – 9 July 1995) was a British television director. Born in Bristol, he joined the BBC as a studio manager in local radio then became an assistant floor manager on television.
