Mina Tolu
Mina Tolu (born 31 August 1991) is a Maltese politician, activist who champions LGBTQIA causes and is a green activist who has campaigned to raise awareness of transgender rights and gender equality in Europe. They ran for the 2019 European Parliament election in Malta. Tolu is currently deputy chairperson of AD+PD and previously served as co-spokesperson of the Federation of Young European Greens. Early life Tolu and their twin sibling, Ludo Tolu, were born on 31 August 1991. Together, they founded the Maltese Student Organisation, ''We Are'', in 2010. Tolu's father, Giancarlo Tolu, is a Maltese sportsman who broke a Guinness World Record in bowling in 2004 and represented Malta at the European Senior Bowling Championships and the Senior World Cup. 2019 European Parliament Election In Malta
The 2019 European Parliament election was held in Malta on 25 May 2019. 8 different political parties took part in the election, of which, only 2 won seats in the European Parliament; the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party, with 4 and 2 seats respectively. The University Students' Council ( mt, Kunsill Studenti Universitarji), also known in abbreviation as KSU, is a Maltese national students' union. It is the oldest extant student organization in Europe. The KSU was established by Arturo Mercieca (1878-1969), later Chief Justice Sir Arturo Mercieca (1924-1940), in 1901 as the Comitato Permanente Universitario, also previously known as University Permanent Committee. BirdLife Malta is Malta's biggest environmental movement. The organization's stated aim is to "achieve protection of wild birds, natural habitat and biodiversity". BirdLife Malta is also Malta's first environment NGO. It was founded in January 1962, and was then known as MOS (Malta Ornithological Society). It started off more as a study group, but quickly came to realize that wild birds were in dire need of protection. Today Birdlife Malta works to protect bird populations. Malta is a very densely populated small Mediterranean island state, with no truly wild areas left.
