Millswood Railway Station
Millswood railway station is located on the Belair line in Adelaide. Situated in the Adelaide suburb of Millswood, it is from Adelaide station. History The station opened circa 1910. The platforms were constructed of earth-filled concrete each side of the dual tracks, which were both broad gauge until 1995. There were timber framed, iron clad open passenger shelters on each platform. The two outbound Unley Park and Hawthorn stations had similar shelters. A ticket office was provided on the Up (western) platform until being demolished in 1985, and the original shelters were removed in March 1988 and replaced with the bus stop type shelters seen at some stations on the TransAdelaide network. Millswood station closed on 28 April 1995, simultaneously with stations at Clapham and Hawthorn despite criticism from nearby residents, with the conversion of the Adelaide-Wolseley line to standard gauge under the One Nation programme. Blackwood Railway Station, Adelaide
Blackwood railway station is located on the Belair line in Adelaide. Situated 18 kilometres from Adelaide station, it is in the southern foothills suburb of Blackwood. History Blackwood station opened in 1883 with the opening of the Adelaide to Aldgate section of the Adelaide-Melbourne line. On 18 June 1928, it became the temporary terminus of the double track section from Eden Hills. On 24 June 1928 it was extended through to Belair. In 1940, a footbridge was added. Blackwood is one of the busiest stations on the Belair line, and it is the only station on the line to have a bus interchange with connections available with many routes. Bedford Park, South Australia
Bedford Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. The Hancock family established a homestead and farm at the foot of the Adelaide Hills in the mid 19th century. A family name from an earlier generation lent its name to the property of ''Bedford'' which was later changed to ''Bedford Park''. In 1917, of the property was purchased by the South Australian Government and a tuberculosis sanatorium was built. Initially housing World War I soldiers the sanatorium was expanded until, by 1924, it had 74 beds and was a self-supporting farm with pigs, chickens, orchards and grain production. The sanatorium was demolished and Flinders University built in its place in the 1960s. Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is a major public tertiary hospital and teaching school, co-located with Flinders University and the 130 bed Flinders Private Hospital located at Bedford Park, South Australia. It opened in 1976. It serves as the trauma centre for the southern suburbs, and parts of the Adelaide Hills.
