The Military University of Radioelectronics (russian: Военный университет радиоэлектроники) is a Russian military academy conducting warrant officer programmes, commissioned officer programmes (specialitet), advance training career commissioned officer programmes (magistratura), and adjunctura programmes. It is located in Cherepovets. History The University was founded in 1957 as Cherepovets Military School of Communications. In 1970, it was renamed the Cherepovets Higher Military Command School of Communications. In 1974, it was renamed the Cherepovets Higher Military Engineering School of Radioelectronics. In 1998, the School was transformed into Cherepovets Military Engineering Institute of Radioelectronics. In 2020, it received the current name. Cherepovets
Cherepovets ( rus, Череповец, p=tɕɪrʲɪpɐˈvʲɛts) is a city in Vologda Oblast, Russia, located in the west of the oblast on the banks of the Sheksna River (a tributary of the Volga River) and on the shores of the Rybinsk Reservoir. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 312,310, making it the most populous city in the oblast. Etymology The origin of the word "Cherepovets" is a subject of much debate among the local historians. According to one version, the city supposedly received its name from the word "skull" (russian: череп, ''cherep''). In antiquity, a pagan sanctuary was there in honor of the god Veles on the hill at the confluence of the Sheksna and Yagorba Rivers. The top of the hill was called the "skull." Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. Military Commissioning Schools In Russia
The military commissioning schools are educational institutions conducting career commissioned officer training programmes. Education acquired at such schools is higher military education (level 6 according to International Standard Classification of Education). These programmes are named specialitet (russian: специалитет) and take 5 years. Graduates of commissioning schools are assigned the military rank of lieutenant. The adjunctura (russian: адъюнктура) is a military analogue of civilian graduate school in Russia, which allow commissioned officers to get academic degree of candidate of military sciences and be appointed to teaching and scientific positions in military educational and scientific research institutions. History In Soviet era Adjunctura was established in 1938. Its main use was the preparation of teaching and scientific staff for Soviet Armed Forces from among commissioned officers. The period of studying was 3 years. The upper age limit for entry was 35 years. Applicants were supposed to have 2 years active duty service experience as commissioned officers at least.
