Milbank Baronets
The Milbank Baronetcy, of Well in the County of York, and of Hart in the County of Durham, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 16 May 1882 for Frederick Milbank, member of parliament for the North Riding of Yorkshire and for Richmond. The second Baronet represented Radnorshire in the House of Commons as a Conservative. The fourth Baronet was Master of the Household between 1954 and 1967. The fifth Baronet focused on estate management and won awards for game conservancy. Barningham Park country house and estate has been home to the Milbank family since 1690. Sir Mark Milbank, 4th Baronet
Major Sir Mark Vane Milbank, 4th Baronet, (11 January 1907 – 4 April 1984) was a British Army officer and courtier, who served as Master of the Household from 1954 to 1967. Early life He was the son of Sir Frederick Richard Milbank, 3rd Baronet and Harriet Anne Dorothy Wilson. He was educated at Eton College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Military career Milbank commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1930, and served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Bombay between 1933 and 1938. He saw active service in the Second World War, and was awarded the Military Cross in 1945. Courtier He was Comptroller to the Governor General of Canada between 1946 and 1952, before being appointed Deputy Master of the Household. Sir Powlett Charles John Milbank, 2nd Baronet (1 May 1852 – 30 January 1918), was a British Conservative Member of Parliament. Sir Frederick Milbank, 1st Baronet
Sir Frederick Acclom Milbank, 1st Baronet (21 April 1820 – 28 April 1898), was a British Liberal Member of Parliament. Career Milbank was elected to the House of Commons for the North Riding of Yorkshire in 1865, a seat he held until 1885, and then represented Richmond until 1886. On 16 May 1882 he was created a Baronet, of Well in the County of York, and of Hart in the County of Durham. Milbank died in April 1898, aged 78. Hart, County Durham
Hart is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England, north-west of Hartlepool. History Evidence of occupation in Hart can be seen from 6000 BC, with farming first appearing around 3500 BC. By 1000 BC the area is more extensively settled, including farming buildings and field systems. Activity increases around 650 AD with the establishment of St Hilda's Monastery in Hartlepool.
