Sir Michael Wood was born on 28 January 1918 in the United Kingdom. He studied medicine, and in 1943 he qualified as a surgeon and soon after was married to Susan Buxton, daughter of African missionaries. Wood's wife's deep-rooted interest in Africa, after spending her early life in Belgian Congo The Belgian Congo (french: Congo belge, ; nl, Belgisch-Congo) was a Belgian colony in Central Africa from 1908 until independence in 1960. Michael Jon Wood (born 17 March 1976) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dudley South since May 2015. Early life and career Wood was born on 17 March 1976. He attended Old Swinford Hospital – a state-run boarding school in Oldswinford, before studying Economics & Law at Aberystwyth University. He completed a Bar Vocational Course at Cardiff University in 1999. After graduating from university, Wood went to work for Alexander Macmillan, 2nd Earl of Stockton, Conservative MEP for South West England. Michael Roy Wood (born 3 March 1946) is a British Labour politician who was Member of Parliament for Batley and Spen from 1997 to 2015. He was a member of the left-wing Socialist Campaign Group. Early life Wood is the son of Rowland Wood, a foundry worker, and his wife Laura. He has two siblings. He was educated at Nantwich and Acton Grammar School in Nantwich, and Salisbury and Wells Theological College in Salisbury, Wiltshire, where he gained a Certificate in Theology in 1974. Michael Philip Wood (born 10 May 1980) is a New Zealand politician and, since winning the Mount Roskill by-election in December 2016, a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives. He is a member of the Labour Party. Early life Wood was born in 1980. He attended Pakuranga College and graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. While a university student Wood worked as a Christmas tree salesman.
