Mike Waywell
Mike Waywell (born 25 September 1988 in Maghull, Liverpool, England), formerly of Sale Sharks is an English rugby union player who has represented England Counties XV and Lancashire. He currently plays inside centre but has previously played professionally at Fly-half. He has had most club level success at Fylde but his current club is Sedgley Park. Rugby union career A product of the Sale Sharks academy, Mike began his career by playing academy rugby for Sale as well as lower league club rugby for Preston Grasshoppers and Altrincham Kersal before being signed by Fylde part way through the 2007–08 season. While playing for Fylde, Mike was part of a squad that won three consecutive Lancashire Cup titles as well as gaining promotion to National League 1 by becoming National League 2 North champions in 2010-11 playing alongside former England legend Jason Robinson. Maghull
Maghull ( ) is a town and civil parish in Sefton, Merseyside (historically a part of Lancashire). The town is north of Liverpool and west of Kirkby. The area also contains Ashworth Hospital. Maghull had a population of 20,444 at the 2011 Census. Housing in the town is almost entirely a 20th-century settlement of semi-detached and detached housing although remains of the original town do exist. The town has had an elected council since the Local Government Act 1894 when the government set up a network of local governance across England. Following the Local Government Act 1974, the council changed its name from a parish to a town council. Etymology It has been proposed by Dr Eilert Ekwall that the name Maghull may have been derived from the Celtic word ''*magos'' referring to a plain or field, and the Old English ''halh'' referring to a corner or nook, giving the meaning of a "flat land in a bend". National League 1
National One (last season known as National League 1 and previously known before September 2009 as National Division Two), is the third of three national leagues in the domestic rugby union competition of England. It was known as Courage League National Division Three when founded in 1987. Caldy are the current champions. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) approved a new structure for the National Leagues from the 2022–23 season. This division will be reduced to fourteen teams, playing each other on a home and away basis to make a total of 26 matches each. The champions are promoted to the RFU Championship and the bottom three teams are relegated to either National Two East, National Two North or National Two West depending on the geographical location of the team. David Tait
David Tait (5 July 1987 – 12 December 2012) was a professional rugby union player for Sale Sharks in the Guinness Premiership. Career Tait played as a Number 8, although he could also operate as a Flanker. He also represented Scotland at rugby sevens. Tait made his Sale debut in a Powergen Cup match against Llanelli Scarlets. He "left the club in 2010 after suffering persistent injuries, having made just 40 appearances". Tait represented the England Under 20 team. He was called up to the England sevens training squad for the 2008–09 IRB Sevens World Series. However, Tait did not represent England and later competed for Scotland at the 2009 Dubai Sevens. In November 2011, Tait started a career at KPMG Hong Kong in the Corporate Finance team. The County Championship is an annual rugby union competition in England between teams representing English counties. After restructuring in 2007 the top tier of the Championship has been known as the Bill Beaumont Cup, after the trophy awarded to the competition winners was named in honour of Bill Beaumont, a former England and British & Irish Lions captain. In 2017 the competition was officially known as Bill Beaumont Division 1, with teams also competing in Division 2 and Division 3, which prior to 2017 were known as the Plate and Shield competitions. Jason Robinson (rugby)
Jason Thorpe Robinson OBE (born 30 July 1974) is an English former dual-code international rugby league and rugby union footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. Playing as a wing or fullback, he won 51 rugby union international caps for England and is the first black man to captain the England team.
