Michael Curtis "Yogi" Stewart (born April 24, 1975) is a retired French-born American basketball player who last played for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. Early life Stewart, son of former Santa Clara standout and European pro Mike Stewart, was born in Cucq, Pas-de-Calais, France and starred at Kennedy High School in Sacramento, California, leading the Cougars to back-to-back city section titles in 1990 and 1991. Stewart earned his nickname "Yogi" from his older brother for his childhood love of Yogi Bear cartoons. College career Stewart played four seasons at the University of California, Berkeley. He averaged 4.3 ppg and 4.7 rpg in 117 games and finished as the Bears' all-time leading shot-blocker (207). Death Of Michael Stewart
Michael Jerome Stewart (May 9, 1958, – September 28, 1983) was an African-American man who received recognition after his death following an arrest by New York City Transit Police for writing graffiti in soft-tip marker or using an aerosol can on a New York City Subway wall at the First Avenue station. His treatment while in police custody and the ensuing trials of the arresting officers (all of whom were acquitted) sparked debate concerning police brutality and the responsibilities of arresting officials in handling suspects. This was a widely publicized episode in New York City's history of police brutality cases. Word of the arrest came out on September 15, 1983, as the Committee Against Racially Motivated Police Violence was holding a news conference to publicize a United States Congress hearing into complaints of police abuse. Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart, 5th Baronet (10 February 1766 – 3 August 1825). Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire between 1822 and 1825. Michael Stewart Nicholson of Carnock, succeeded to the lands of Blackhall and Ardgowan on the death of his uncle Sir John Shaw Stewart, in 1812. He was invested in these lands in 1813 and dropped the name of Nicholson and became Sir Michael Shaw Stewart of Ardgowan, 5th Baronet. In 1787 as Michael Nicholson of Carnock, he had married his cousin Catherine Maxwell, youngest daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Springkell and Margaret Stewart, Michael's aunt. Michael Stewart (born 1965) is a British-born Canadian Anglican bishop. He was consecrated in 2024 as bishop suffragan of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC) in the Anglican Church in North America, where he serves as area bishop for western Canada. He was previously in parish ministry in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where he participated in the Anglican realignment in the 2000s. Biography Stewart is a native of the United Kingdom. He studied for the priesthood at St John's College, Nottingham, and was ordained as a deacon in 1989 and a priest in 1990. Mike Stewart is an American politician from the state of Tennessee. He was a Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing the 52nd district. Stewart was the chair of the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus. Amateur career Stewart had a successful amateur career and won the 2010 Scottish Amateur and 2011 South African Amateur.
