Michael Anthony Morton (born March 28, 1972) is a National Football League (NFL) official and former American football linebacker. Morton played college football for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and went on to play for four teams in a seven-year NFL career. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft. During his NFL career. Morton played in 103 games (17 starts) and recorded 120 tackles, 50 assists, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. He was a member of the 1999 St. Louis Rams team that won Super Bowl XXXIV in January 2000. Since his retirement from playing in the NFL, Morton has become a dentist and has opened his practice in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Michael Morton (born August 12, 1954) is an American who was wrongfully convicted in 1987 in a Williamson County, Texas court of the 1986 murder of his wife Christine Morton. He spent nearly 25 years in prison before he was exonerated by DNA evidence which supported his claim of innocence and pointed to the crime being committed by another individual. Morton was released from prison on October 4, 2011, and another man, Mark Alan Norwood, was convicted of the murder in 2013. The prosecutor in the case, Ken Anderson, was convicted of contempt of court for withholding evidence after the judge had ordered its release to the defense. Career ''Detective Sparkes'' Morton's comedy called ''Detective Sparkes'' opened at the Garrick Theatre in August 1909 to good reviews. He also directed the production which ran into October for a total of 64 performances. ''The Yellow Ticket'' In 1914, Morton's play, ''The Yellow Ticket'' ran 183 performances on Broadway and starred Florence Reed and John Barrymore. Douglas Michael "Mike" Morton (11 July 1924 – 22 November 2003) was a British petroleum geologist and an authority on the geology of the Middle East. Between 1947 and 1953, Morton and fellow geologist Rene Wetzel worked together in Iraq for the Iraq Petroleum Company PC carrying out extensive field work and mapping the Mesozoic outcrops.
